PC Players Are Complaining Again About Ragnarok’s PSN Requirement

As a long-time PC gamer with countless hours spent navigating the digital landscapes of various games, I must say I find the recent uproar over God of War Ragnarok’s requirement for a PlayStation Network account to play on PC quite amusing. It seems that some gamers are so accustomed to their freedom that even a minor inconvenience such as this sends them into a frenzy of complaints.

Yesterday, God of War Ragnarok debuted on Steam, and in just one day, it has amassed over 2,000 reviews on the platform. Surprisingly, about 45% of these reviews are critical, with many users voicing concerns about needing to link a PlayStation Network account to their profile before playing the game. This prerequisite isn’t unique to God of War Ragnarok as it’s been a common practice for PlayStation games transitioning to PC.

This year, a significant backlash erupted against Helldivers 2. The controversy arose when it became known that players would require a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to play the game on their PCs. This was one of the strongest manifestations of this recent trend.

Complaining Just To Complain

For some time now, it’s been announced that to play the single-player Santa Monica game on PC, players must connect a PSN account. Despite this, many gamers have continued to voice their discontent about this requirement. This is one of several recent games to be released on PC with such a condition, yet numerous individuals are still leaving unfavorable reviews on Steam expressing their dissatisfaction.

Individuals often bring up Sony’s prior data breaches as a concern, stating they’d prefer not to disclose their personal details to the company for playing God of War Ragnarok. However, in many instances, they end up doing so regardless.

A significant disadvantage is that PlayStation Network (PSN) isn’t accessible in numerous countries globally, which implies that residents from those nations cannot access God of War Ragnarok on PC either.

As a devoted gaming enthusiast, I’ve come across countless complaints about certain game requirements set by Sony, yet they seem unyielding in their stance. This means that those of us who prefer the PC platform need to either embrace these conditions or make do without.
