As a seasoned traveler through the realms, having traversed Midgard, Asgard, Vanaheim, and beyond, I must say that discovering the hidden gems in God of War Ragnarok is an adventure I’ve grown to love. The reunion between Kratos, Freya, and Chaurli, the giant tortoise-turned-Sanctuary Grove, was a heartwarming moment I won’t forget anytime soon.
In God of War Ragnarok, a wealth of mysteries and challenges await, some of which can only be discovered after the main story’s credits have rolled. Given the multitude of hidden treasures in God of War Ragnarok, it comes as no shock that certain aspects, including both familiar and surprising figures, are better saved for later exploration.
One of the most interesting discoveries in God of War Ragnarok is where to find Sanctuary Grove, Freya’s home from God of War (2018) that was actually a giant tortoise named Chaurli. Kratos, Freya, and Chaurli can have a cold reunion, but only after the credits roll.
How to Get to Sanctuary Grove in God of War Ragnarok
In order to get to Sanctuary Grove, players must first have completed the main story.
After finishing the campaign, players must make their way back to Sindri’s House and toss the Leviathan Axe at the wind chimes, thereby invoking Ratatoskr. Upon invocation, engaging with Ratatoskr will grant players the Yggdrasil Seed Pouch, a valuable item key, which houses Realm Seeds that can open Mystic Gateways across the nine realms, including previously uncharted territories.
By acquiring the Pouch of Yggdrasil Seeds from Ratatoskr, gamers can navigate to the Mystic Gateway, thereby reaching Midgard. On the fast travel menu in Midgard, they should opt for the Undiscovered Gateway. Pressing the X button will open up the Mystic Gateway, thus unveiling the Sanctuary Grove.
To reach the Sanctuary Grove, there’s only one route available, and that is by first finishing the campaign and then navigating through the Mystic Gateway.
Where to Find Mirkweed For Nine Realms in Bloom
Upon reaching Sanctuary Grove, players get to experience a heartwarming reunion between Freya and her long-lost friend Chaurli, the giant tortoise. After years apart due to Freya’s vengeful pursuit against Kratos, this tender moment is not to be missed. As you interact with Chaurli, look left to discover the Mirkweed plant essential for the Nine Realms in Bloom side quest and the God of War Ragnarok trophy.
