What to Expect From The First Official Switch 2 Games

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and the games that will be gracing its screen. Having grown up playing on the original Game Boy and the NES, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I read about the new console and its offerings.

With the anticipated unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2 approaching, details about the games set to appear on this platform are gradually surfacing. Although there is still limited official information regarding the Switch 2, Nintendo has been notoriously secretive about its upcoming device; however, its existence has been acknowledged and it’s expected to be revealed soon.

It’s uncertain if the upcoming console will indeed be named “Switch 2”, but what is certain is that it’s anticipated to maintain the same basic shape and aesthetic as the current Switch, unlike the transition from the Wii to the Wii U which saw a significant departure in form and design.

Currently, two games have been officially announced for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2: “My Time at Evershine” and “Bestario”. While these indie games may not generate the same level of buzz as a new “Legend of Zelda” release, they are still intriguing because their developers, Pathea Games and Wiggin Industries, have expressed intentions to bring these games to Nintendo’s next console. These announcements could provide valuable insights into what the Switch 2 might offer, so it’s worth exploring “Evershine” and “Bestario” to understand their intended gaming experience and what potential they hold for the new Nintendo hardware.

Unveiled Nintendo Switch 2 Games Explained

My Time at Evershine

In case you’ve picked up on the title clue, I’m diving back into the world of Evershine after my stints at Sandrock and Portia – three charming games that blend settlement-building, life simulation, and action RPG gameplay seamlessly. The newest addition, My Time at Evershine, promises to carry forward the best parts from its predecessors, dropping me right into the shoes of the Evershine Settlement’s governor. I’m charged with constructing a thriving community using versatile building tools – can’t wait to get started!

It’s yet to be determined how distinct Evershine is from Sandrock and Portia, but the art direction appears to be a substantial change: instead of the chibi-esque, short characters from the earlier games, we now see more slender, mature models that resemble those found in a game like Valorant. Overall, the visuals of Evershine seem to represent a significant advancement, with VFX and animations of superior quality compared to what fans might have grown accustomed to.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t wait to immerse myself in the captivating world of “My Time at Evershine,” where action-RPG combat, survival aspects, and beloved features like crafting, personalization, and romantic subplots intertwine. This game seems tailor-made for Nintendo’s versatile hybrid console, offering an unparalleled experience.

Bestario

Unlike many established games following familiar formulas, not much is publicly known about Kickstarter-backed Bestario. However, it’s being categorized as a “role-playing game with turn-based combat and social simulation elements,” reminiscent of the Persona series in some ways. Developed in Spain after a catastrophic pandemic, Bestario draws on Spanish folklore to offer an experience similar to classic JRPGs, but with a fresh, culturally unique twist that reflects contemporary times.

The combination of turn-based combat and strict time management in social interactions appears most similar to the Persona series, as players must juggle exploration and monster battles with their daily life, creating relationships with NPCs that can influence their battle skills. In terms of style, Wiggin Industries continues to imitate classic JRPGs, while still injecting its unique charm and character, giving the game a noticeably unique, attractive look. Although it might not demand the enhanced capabilities of Switch 2 to perform smoothly, having it on the platform will undeniably bolster its indie RPG collection.
