Pokemon Gen 10 is basically confirmed to ‘steal’ these Legends: Z-A features

After being released nearly three months ago, Pokemon Legends: Z-A has received a varied response. Players have reacted to its unique gameplay—which includes a new battle system, open-world areas for catching Pokemon, a long tutorial, and a story some didn’t enjoy. Despite being a somewhat controversial game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A successfully broke from tradition and offered a fresh experience. Because of this, the next generation of Pokemon games (Gen 10) will likely take some cues from it, even if it’s just a little.

Pokemon Gen 10 is Officially Using Some Pokemon Legends: Z-A Features

As a huge Pokémon fan, I’ve been following the Gen 10 leaks, and it’s pretty cool to hear that Game Freak might be planning to use some ideas from Pokémon Legends: Z-A in the next games! Now, things could definitely change since it’s still early in development, but it’s wild to think they were potentially building Gen 10 with Z-A in mind even before it was released. It shows they’re thinking about how everything connects!

Okay, so from what I’m seeing, Gen 10 is shaping up to be really cool! It looks like we’re probably going to get super tough battles like the Alpha Pokemon and Rogue Mega Evolutions from Pokemon Legends: Z-A. And honestly, the customization in Z-A is way better than what we had in Gen 9. I’m hoping they take that a step further in Gen 10 and finally let us pick clothes without being limited by our character’s gender – that would be awesome!

Real-Time Battles and Move Cooldowns

One of the biggest changes is shifting from the traditional turn-based battles in Pokemon to a real-time system, which requires a new approach to strategy. This new battle style also puts more focus on where your Pokemon are positioned – something that wasn’t as important before – and completely changes how Speed works. Instead of Speed determining who goes first, it now reduces the time it takes to use moves, meaning higher Speed lets you attack more frequently.

Unlike previous games, Pokemon Legends: Z-A won’t have PP (Pokemon Points) or accuracy stats. Leaks indicate the game might combine traditional turn-based battles with a new, real-time combat system – potentially for PvP or a specific game mode. This new system also improves moves like Hyper Beam and similar powerful attacks, making them more useful and satisfying compared to turn-based battles.

Mega Evolutions

New leaks indicate that the next generation of Pokémon (Gen 10) might bring back Mega Evolutions. Early versions of the game, revealed in a recent leak, contain space for Mega Stones, the items needed to trigger these transformations. This isn’t surprising, as Mega Evolutions returned in a later generation after initially being a key feature in Gen 6. Plus, the Mega Evolutions planned for Pokémon Legends: Z-A wouldn’t get much use before being overshadowed by a potential new Pokémon Champions game.

Shiny Hunting Legendary and Mythical Pokemon

The upcoming DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A will let players hunt for shiny versions of Legendary Pokemon like Latias, Latios, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion. This addresses a major issue in the previous game, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, where shiny versions of these Pokemon were unavailable. Many players even went back to older games to find shiny Legendaries, and the lack of them in Scarlet and Violet‘s Indigo Disk DLC was a point of criticism. Allowing shiny hunting for Legendaries in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a welcome improvement.

Roguelike DLC Content and Level Cap

The Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A introduces a unique, roguelike challenge. Players explore randomly generated areas called Hyperspace Areas filled with different Pokemon, and they’re timed based on the donuts they create. While this fast-paced loop won’t appeal to all players, it offers a fresh experience that could be expanded upon in future Pokemon games. Similarly, the new ability to raise Pokemon beyond level 100 – also tied to donut crafting – provides a satisfying sense of continued progress even after completing the main game.
