WARNING: THE following contains spoilers for the My Hero Academia manga.

During the climactic battle in “My Hero Academia,” Tomura Shigaraki inflicted a mortal wound on Bakugo Katsuki. In an effort to neutralize Shigaraki, Bakugo’s heart was inadvertently crushed when he used his body as a shield during the attack, causing him to lose a significant amount of blood and eventually succumb to his injuries on the battlefield.

Initially appearing in a weakened state, it was unexpectedly Bakugo who miraculously found renewed life. However, it was EdgeShot who performed the healing act; yet, the method he employed took a toll on his own lifespan. Therefore, one must wonder if EdgeShot will endure after employing his ultimate heal on Bakugo.

What happened to Bakugo Katsuki during the Final War?

When the Final War commenced, it was me who found myself separated from All For One and ensnared within the intricate Troy defense system – a fate shared by the nefarious villains and League of Villains as well. Trapped in this labyrinth, we were swiftly transported to a new location, where the valiant Pro Heroes lay in wait. The bitter twist was that Midoriya Izuku, too, was whisked away from his place, caught by none other than Himiko Toga’s treacherous whip.

Having lost contact with Tomura Shigaraki and All For One, I, a devoted fan of the U.A. High School heroes, was on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating their next move. It turned out that their strategy centered around none other than Midoriya Izuku, the bearer of One For All. With Shigaraki cornered within his floating fortress, shielded by an electric barrier, it fell upon Aizawa and Monoma to employ their Erasure Quirk against him. As the heroes inside the fortress watched helplessly, all they could do was attempt to impede Shigaraki’s progress.

As a devoted admirer, I’d rephrase it like this: Despite not being able to utilize his Decay Quirk or any other Quirks stored by All For One, Shigaraki has ingeniously leveraged the Quirk Singularity concept proposed by Dr. Garaki. This theory suggests that as a Quirk develops, the body must adapt accordingly, leading to a transformation into a new form. Embracing this principle, Shigaraki has spawned massive growths resembling hands and fingers from his own body. He’s then employed these extensions to launch attacks against the Heroes stationed within the fortress.

Within the fortress, the Heroes had given their all in an attempt to halt Shigaraki’s advance, but the growths proved overwhelming. By Chapter 358, Bakugo Katsuki unleashed one of his most powerful moves, Howitzer Impact: Cluster Bomb, aiming to slow down the main body. Regrettably, Shigaraki countered this attack and shattered his right arm, demonstrating a significant disparity in raw power.

Besides the power disparity, Shigaraki subtly taunted Katsuki, knowing it would likely irritate him. For years, Katsuki (Bakugo) has felt overshadowed by Izuku Midoriya, and once more, witnessing the power difference and being reminded he’d forever be in Midoriya’s shadow was enough to drive Bakugo to prove his worth.

On yet another occasion, Bakugo broke through his own barriers, speeding faster than ever before. Regrettably, despite catching Shigaraki off guard, Shigaraki managed to smash Bakugo’s heart during the course of his assault.

Will Edgeshot survive after healing Bakugo Katsuki?

Edgeshot was reduced to a mere strand of what he previously was

In Chapter 364, it was thought that Bakugo Katsuki had perished, as his heart was destroyed during Shigaraki’s assault. At that point, all optimism seemed to fade away, as the Heroes assumed Katsuki wouldn’t survive. However, Pro Hero Edgeshot, Kamihara Shinya, vowed to replace Bakugo’s heart in a remarkable turn of events.

Edgeshot possesses a unique ability known as Foldabody Quirk, which enables him to shape and adjust the thickness of his body. This includes extending his limbs into slender strands or flattening them out. However, over-extension can negatively impact his lifespan.

To assume Bakugo’s wounded heart, Edgeshot employed the Ninpo technique: Thousand Sheet Perforate “Zenith.” This skill enables Edgeshot to extend his body to its limit, making him as slender as a surgical stitch. To prevent Bakugo’s injury from getting infected, Edgeshot sanitized himself using a bubble provided by the Pro Hero Bubble Wash.

Despite Edgeshot’s persistent efforts to mend Bakugo’s wound, it became apparent that Best Jeanist had even stitched up Bakugo’s heart. Regrettably, this wasn’t enough. Once inside Bakugo’s body, Edgeshot discovered the extent of the damage sustained during the battle against Shigaraki. In this instance, he found out that not only was Bakugo’s heart crushed but also his lungs were injured as well.

Due to Edgeshot’s swift actions, he promptly repaired the injuries from both inside and out, administered CPR to Bakugo to prevent his heart from failing, and by using the Zenith technique, he kept Bakugo alive. At the same time, Best Jeanist defended them against any potential attacks that Shigaraki might launch. However, as I mentioned before, overextending himself with Zenith puts Edgeshot’s life at risk too. As he continues to employ Zenith under such challenging circumstances, his lifespan starts to diminish, as highlighted in Chapter 365.

In the 403rd chapter, Bakugo Katsuki astonished everyone, including Midoriya Izuku and Shigaraki, by standing alive and eager to resume their fight against Shigaraki and All For One. Earlier, they thought he had perished due to a severe injury to his heart. However, it was disclosed in Chapter 405 that Bakugo had been near death, with Edgeshot utilizing Zenith to mend his damaged internal organs.

In chapter 405, Edgeshot disclosed that he had mended Bakugo’s fractured bones and tied things together using a unique knotting technique called Hakamada-style. Yet, it was not the knot itself that revived Bakugo but rather his activated Explosion Quirk that regained consciousness for him. And in a drastic move, Edgeshot severed his own body to detach himself from the sutures he had made.

In Chapter 428, we find EdgeShot again, having survived the Final War by using a powerful technique called Zenith. However, this technique has left him with a diminutive form, which includes small hands. Despite his reduced size, EdgeShot assures Bakugo that he’s recovering well and intends to push himself even harder in the future.
