As a survival game, StarRupture requires you to collect all available resources, such as Calcium, Helium, Titanium, and Wolfram Ore. However, keep in mind that these materials won’t provide any defensive capabilities.
To survive on this dangerous alien planet, you’ll need weapons. Creatures are constantly emerging from the ground, and without a way to defend yourself, you won’t last long against their swarms.
Here’s a guide to weapons and self-defense in StarRupture.
How to Unlock Weapons

StarRupture features a range of weapons, beginning with the UPP-7 REAPER pistol. This starting weapon is unique because it’s the only one you unlock simply by leveling up with a company.
You’ll receive the starting pistol when you reach level two at Griffits Blue Corporation, and it will be available to you permanently after that.
Besides the UPP-7 REAPER, you can also acquire three other guns. They are:
- MAR-9 PHANTOM Assault Rifle
- SLAMS-12 Shotgun
- M175 GRIM Machine Gun
You can get new weapons by building the Equipment Upgrade Station. This station becomes available once you reach level four with the Griffits Blue Corporation, and you can construct it within your base.
Okay, so I finally built the Equipment Upgrade Station, and when I used it, a weapons menu popped up. It turns out I can actually have two weapons equipped at the same time, which is pretty cool!
Choose the weapon slot where you want to equip a weapon. Then, select the weapon you want to use. You can equip any weapon you’ve already unlocked.
You can unlock the machine gun, assault rifle, and shotgun by using War Bonds. Each weapon costs a different amount; the shotgun, for example, costs 85 War Bonds.
You’ll eventually unlock a grenade. It becomes available automatically when you reach level three with the Griffits Blue Corporation. Once unlocked, you can throw it by pressing the G key.
Obtaining War Bonds
You’ll need War Bonds to unlock most weapons. You can earn these bonds in a few different ways.
As you improve the Griffits Blue Corporation by gaining levels, you’ll automatically receive War Bonds. You’ll get them at levels 5, 7, and 10.
You can also find War Bonds by searching abandoned outposts. These places are overrun with enemies, so be prepared to fight! But if you check the containers inside, you’ll usually find a good number of Bonds.
Crafting Ammo
All weapons need ammunition to fire. The game features several different types of ammo, and you can make them all yourself.
You can create different types of ammunition using the Item Printer. Each ammo type needs specific materials – for example, pistol ammo only needs Basic Building materials, while standard ammo requires both Basic Building materials and Wolfram Powder. Wolfram Powder is made by processing Wolfram Ore.

Okay, so like with everything else I build, I need to remember to hook up power if I want my Item Printer to actually work. It’s easy to forget, but no power means no printing!
Upgrading Your Weapons
Each of the weapons can also be upgraded. This is done using the Equipment Upgrade Station.
Once you’ve unlocked the workbench, simply use it to open the weapons menu. Then, choose the weapon you want to improve.
The weapon has several parts you can improve. For example, you can change the barrel, sight, magazine, or stock on an assault rifle.
Like with unlocking the weapons, you will need to spend War Bonds to unlock these weapon upgrades.
