A Film Production Company Named ‘Stellarblade’ is Suing PlayStation Over ‘Stellar Blade’

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tinge of sympathy for Griffith Chambers Mehaffey and his Louisiana-based film production company, Stellarblade. It’s a bit like finding out your childhood treehouse has been renamed and repurposed as a gaming studio without so much as a “Hey, how you doin’?

A Louisiana-based film production company, Stellarblade, has just filed a case against the developers of Stellar Blade, Shift Up and the publisher, PlayStation.

According to IGN’s report, Griffith Chambers Mehaffey, the proprietor of Stellarblade Entertainment, has taken legal action against PlayStation, Shift Up, and an unidentified insurance firm for allegedly using the trademark “Stellar Blade”. Mehaffey argues that his business has suffered due to the resemblance in names and logos.

Concerning his movie business, the film company’s proprietor asserts that information about it can effortlessly be found online. Yet, since the launch of Shift Up’s Stellar Blade game, his enterprise has been outranked in search results. Moreover, Mehaffey contends that their trademarks are strikingly similar, highlighting shared color patterns and the fact that both logos incorporate a stylized ‘S’.

According to Mehaffey’s explicit requests, he insists that Shift Up and PlayStation must stop utilizing the name ‘Stellar Blade’, surrender all associated items for disposal, and provide reimbursement for the losses as well as legal expenses incurred.
