More Footage of Cancelled Monolith Batman Game Surfaces Online

Lost materials from the unreleased Batman game, known as Monolith, have been found online. These include concept art, audio files, details about how the game was meant to work, and designs for vehicles and other elements.

For a while now, details and videos from Batman games that were never released have been appearing online. Last year, we got a glimpse of concept art and footage from a cancelled Batman game being developed by WB Games Montreal, focusing on Damian Wayne. Now, even more footage from a different cancelled project – a Batman game from Monolith – has been revealed, along with some new information about it.

New Footage Shows Audio Systems, Character Art, Game Mechanics, and More for Cancelled Monolith Batman Game

Footage and documents from the cancelled Batman game, Monolith, have been shared online by MrTalida on BlueSky. Most of the material was created to showcase progress to people within the development team and at Warner Bros., but some files actually come from a playable version of the game.

I’ve been checking out some videos about the audio system from that unreleased Batman game Monolith was working on, and it’s seriously impressive. Basically, the music isn’t just on or off; it actually changes depending on what I’m doing in the game. If I’m sneaking around, it’s all quiet and atmospheric, but as soon as a fight breaks out, it ramps up. It even adapts to the different parts of missions, which is a level of detail I really appreciate.

I’ve been watching some old development footage, and it’s amazing how much thought went into the audio. They were building systems where the music would actually react to what was happening to me in the game, smoothly changing as the situation evolved. It’s one of those details that totally immerses you, even if you don’t realize it’s happening!

The demonstration includes a look at realistic cloth movement, specifically how Batman’s cape flows as he walks. We also see character designs for Commissioner Gordon and other Gotham City police officers, plus a test of the facial animation technology.

We’ve released new art videos for Project Apollo, showcasing realistic cloth movement, 360-degree views of Gordon and Gotham City police characters, and a test of facial expressions – a bit of a surprise! (Published 7/9)

We also saw gameplay footage of other features from the unreleased Batman game by Monolith, such as Batman using Batarangs to stun enemies, deploying smoke bombs for stealth, taking down opponents, and utilizing detective mode to gather clues.

These videos demonstrate how some of the game’s features work, including completing quests, defeating enemies, using items like smoke bombs, and how characters move around. Please keep in mind this is all very preliminary footage.
