As a devoted Pokemon GO fan with over 5 years of playing under my belt, I must confess that the latest update introducing Dynamax Pokemon has left me somewhat disheartened. Having battled through countless gyms and raids, I never thought I’d be frustrated by a simple bug-ridden encounter like the one with Dynamax Beldum.

Pokemon GO, initially launched in 2016, has consistently kept its players engaged with its live service format. Lately, Niantic’s efforts to update the game have sparked some dissatisfaction among Pokemon GO enthusiasts.

In September 2024, Pokemon GO introduced Dynamax Pokemon, which were initially presented in Sword & Shield. These Pokemon can reach colossal sizes. As part of the ongoing Max Out season, the chance to encounter these Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon will continue until December 3rd. Throughout the three-month season, different types of Dynamax Pokemon will be rolled out, with Dynamax Beldum being the latest addition.

Dynamax Beldum Has Been Causing Fans Some Problems

Despite high anticipation from Pokemon Go players, Dynamax Beldum hasn’t been met with much enthusiasm due to numerous technical issues during its raids. The expensive cost of attempting these raids and the persistent glitches that can cause crashes or other problems during the fight have left many feeling frustrated and disappointed. Although there is still excitement about what Max Out might bring, the current bugs associated with Beldum haven’t been beneficial for the game’s current season.

Dynamax Beldum Is Tough, And The Crashes Aren’t Helping

Reddit is buzzing with players expressing frustration over Dynamax Beldum being challenging (as seen in communities like r/pokemongo, r/TheSilphRoad, and r/pokemongobrag). These complaints frequently center around being kicked out prematurely from battles. In these instances, players consistently mention that the issue arises early on in the fight and is often accompanied by an error message. This suggests there might be a problem, and the consistent nature of these crashes has led some users like u/HarbingerGNX or those from r/TheSilphRoad to speculate that a timer mechanism may have been implemented without any visible indicators. This theory could potentially explain the recurring crashes.

Additionally, players have struggled to evade Beldum’s attacks and some assert that helpers become immobile when confronting them. For instance, user u/SoilyDude on r/TheSilphRoad suggests dodging certain attacks by swiping the Pokemon to the side when three lines appear above its head. However, other attacks, those not preceded by a ‘Beldum is about to attack’ warning, seem unavoidable. Generally, it seems that encountering a Beldum Dynamax in Pokemon GO often results in a buggy experience, further expanding the game’s already-broad range of glitches.

The Cost Of Fighting Dynamax Beldum

These glitches really become egregious in regard to the cost of fighting and upgrading Dynamax Beldum in Pokemon GO. A player can gain a maximum of 800 free Max Particles per day, and it costs 400 MP just to attempt the Dynamax Beldum raid. In addition, MP is required to upgrade Dynamax Pokemon alongside candies; though Beldum’s upgrade cost is the same in MP, it costs 20 more candy for level 2, and 10 more XL candy for level 3, when compared to prior Dynamax Pokemon.

The worst part about this exorbitant pricing is the fact that, despite Max Particles only being expended in a victory elsewhere in Pokemon GO‘s Max Out season, the crashed Beldum fights have been eating up MP for many users. This has led to the two daily attempts at Dynamax Beldum often being wasted, all because of a widespread glitch. Fortunately, over the lifespan of Dynamax Beldum’s release, new tactics and techniques (such as the dodging measures described above) have been harnessed to beat Beldum faster, negating crashes in many cases. Regardless, a fix here is essential for maintaining interest in this three-month event.
