How to Scrap Resources in Duckside

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my feather-plumed cap, I’ve seen it all – from the dawn of pixelated graphics to the rise of hyper-realistic gaming worlds. Yet, here I am, squawking about Duckside, a game that has managed to captivate me like no other. The survival aspect, the crafting mechanics, and the relentless pursuit for resources – it’s a duck-tale I can’t seem to shake off.

In the style of many well-known survival games, Duckside offers various resources essential for crafting powerful items such as shotguns and protective armor. These are crucial for your survival since hostile ducks pose a significant threat. Here’s a guide on how to scavenge effectively in Duckside to thrive through the mid-game and beyond!

How Scrapping Works in Duckside

In Duckside, much like Rust, you discard unwanted items by locating one of the numerous recycling stations scattered throughout the map. These machines are usually found in areas of interest such as watchtowers or near merchants. They resemble large green machinery with a recycling logo emblazoned on their side.

After locating the recycler, approach it and engage with it by using ‘F.’ A screenshot of its menu will appear. To recycle items, move items from your inventory, located centrally, over to the recycler on the left-hand side. Ensure you leave room for any crafting components that may pop out, as they’ll occupy a single slot each in the recycler.

Remember to return these items to your stockpile, or there’s a chance they might get taken by someone else, as they were materials you worked diligently to obtain for crafting.

Why You Should Scrap Materials

In the game Duckside, there are multiple levels of crafting materials available. Basic necessities include Wood and Stone, while materials like Metal Fragments are needed to create more advanced crafting recipes. Not every crafting resource is found within the environment, though.

By breaking open crates and containers, you’ll gather various tools such as drills and saws which can be exchanged for either feathers or recycled for scrap. It’s a balancing act – you require feathers to access advanced crafting designs, yet you also need the scrap resources to manufacture improved gear.
