Team Rocket Returning to Pokemon GO With Shadow Heatran

Key Takeaways

  • A new Team GO Rocket event will hit Pokemon GO on October 8, featuring Team Rocket encounters at PokeStops and hot air balloons.
  • Players can rescue Shadow Heatran from Giovanni in a Special Research quest line with the chance to obtain Shiny Shadow Pokemon.
  • Besides Shadow Heatran, the event allows players to use Charged TMs on Shadow Pokemon to teach them new moves.

As a seasoned Pokemon Go player with over six years under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming Team GO Rocket event has me more excited than a Pikachu at a Thunder Stone sale! The Galarian Expedition: Taken Over event promises to deliver not one, but seven Shadow Pokemon, including the elusive Shadow Heatran.

In the upcoming event for Pokemon GO, players will have an opportunity to save a Shadow form of the Legendary Fire and Steel-type Pokemon Heatran from Team GO Rocket. This special event begins on October 8th.

Back in July 2019, I stumbled upon Team GO Rocket while playing Pokemon GO – they’ve been around since the launch of this awesome augmented reality game, but Shadow Pokemon were a new addition three years later. These grunts and leaders can pop up at PokeStops or float by in hot air balloons, challenging me to a battle! I even remember seeing real-world grunt challenges and vandalized Pokemon GO posters all over New York City during an early promotional campaign.

During the event named Galarian Expedition: Taken Over, gamers can embark on a Seasonal Special Research mission series, leading to acquiring a Super Rocket Radar. This radar enables challenging the legendary Team Rocket leader, Giovanni, in an attempt to free Shadow Heatran from his grasp. The event spans from local midnight on October 8 to 8 PM on October 11. However, players can complete this research mission until December 3 at 9:59 AM. Additionally, this event offers a new set of six Shadow Pokemon to collect through interactions with Team GO Rocket, many of which could be Shiny. Furthermore, some Pokemon themed for the event remain undisclosed.

During this special event, many players might be excited about the chance to capture and potentially enhance a Shadow Heatran. However, it’s important to note that there are other rewards tied to Team GO Rocket during this event. Players will find themselves encountering Team GO Rocket leaders and grunts more frequently at PokeStops and hot air balloons. Moreover, those who have accumulated a good number of Shadow Pokemon and some Charged TMs can look forward to an exciting time, as the event allows players to use these Charged TMs to teach their Shadow Pokemon a charged move other than Frustration, which is relatively weak compared to other moves.

The most recent Team GO Rocket event in Pokemon GO occurred during the second week of August. This event allowed players to obtain Shadow Cresselia and Shadow Lugia, but some fans felt let down because Shadow Rayquaza wasn’t included, even though the Shard Skies season heavily emphasized this Legendary dragon.
