As a long-time Sonic fan who grew up with the original games and even had a soft spot for Shadow the Hedgehog back in the day, I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode of “Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings“. The animation quality is top-notch, and the storyline delves deep into Shadow’s tragic past, offering a fresh perspective on one of my favorite characters.
Sega unveils the inaugural episode of the fresh Sonic X Shadow Generations animated series titled “Dark Beginnings”. Catch it live immediately!
The series is to follow Shadow the Hedgehog as he “dives into his tragic past to confront the origins of his haunting nightmares of conflict and loss”, and Sega adds that “The first episode centers around Shadow’s memories with his childhood friend, Maria.”

The game “Sonic X Shadow Generations” is scheduled to launch on October 25, 2024, and it will be available for both digital and physical purchase across multiple platforms like PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Pre-orders are open now, with fans who pre-order getting a vintage skin for Modern Sonic inspired by his appearance in “Sonic Adventure”. The Digital Deluxe Edition offers early access to the game by three days and additional content. Furthermore, those who pre-order the Physical Day One Edition will receive Gerald Robotnik’s 28-page journal detailing his journey in creating Shadow and the Ark Space Station.
