During testing, it didn’t manage to achieve a Time Spy Score exceeding 20,000, which is approximately 4,000 points lower than the highest score ever recorded with the same components, and about 1,300 points below iBuyPower’s own benchmark for this specific build.

That’s just one benchmarking program, though, and these numbers are just one piece to a much more complex puzzle.

Gaming

The RDY Y60 005 was subjected to various games such as Cyberpunk 2077, especially when it’s running in ultra ray tracing mode, which is crucial for PC testing. In a 1440p resolution, the average frames per second (FPS) for this game on ultra RT settings came close to 55 FPS – a figure that might not be ideal for 2K gaming overall, but it’s acceptable given Cyberpunk’s most demanding ray tracing effects.

On the RDY Y60 005 in 1440p mode, other games glided seamlessly, akin to ice skating on glass. Baldur’s Gate 3 reached an impressive 160 frames per second (FPS). Grand Theft Auto V maintained an average of approximately 125-130 FPS, closely aligning with iBuyPower’s stated specification of 135 FPS.

Bumping the system up to 4K, all of these frame rate numbers dropped by around 30-50%.

Cooling

This design, featuring a liquid cooling system, tends to maintain a relatively low temperature. In simpler terms, it’s equipped with a large 360mm liquid cooler that theoretically provides sufficient cooling power to prevent the system from overheating, even under heavy workloads.

In the Y60 005, the i9-14900KF tends to heat up noticeably during use, but not excessively so. During testing, it reached its highest temperature of 85 degrees Celsius during the CPU test phase of the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark. While this is well below the throttling point, it could still be a bit uncomfortable for gamers as the processor gets warm. Furthermore, the VRM being equipped with multiple heatsinks adds to the concern. However, throughout most of the testing, the CPU temperature fluctuated between 50 and 65 degrees Celsius, with occasional spikes to around 75-80 degrees.

Conversely, the 4070 Super managed to stay below 75 degrees Celsius during benchmarking, and under heavy GPU load of more than 100%, it never exceeded this temperature mark.

However, it’s worth mentioning that the cooling system puts out quite a bit of noise, no less than a standard air-cooled tower, so if quieter fans are something you’re looking for, it’s best to tamp your expectations. Using a sound level meter to estimate how loud the system got while cooling; during the Time Spy benchmark, it recorded a peak sound of about 65 decibels, with the average volume fluctuating between 50 and 60 decibels. In comparison, the sound level meter was tested against an HP Omen 35L test unit, also liquid-cooled. That unit did not break 45 decibels.
