As someone who has been around gaming for a good chunk of my life, I must say that the announcement of Midnight Murder Club‘s open beta has me more than just excited. After the unfortunate closure of Knockout City, Velan Studios has managed to pique my interest once again with this unique blend of heart-pumping suspense and dark humor.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just learned from Velan Studios that we can jump into the open beta for Midnight Murder Club straight away! It’s available on PC through Steam, so grab your controllers and let’s dive in!
I, a dedicated fan, was captivated by Knockout City’s team’s brilliance. Regrettably, their previous masterpiece had to close its doors. Now, they’ve unveiled a chilling new game that has me on the edge of my seat. In this haunting tale, I find myself tiptoeing through an ancient Victorian mansion, shrouded in pitch-black darkness, armed with just a flashlight and revolver. The mission: complete it and survive. As I cautiously move through the dimly lit corridors, I must be vigilant for other club members lurking in the shadows, ready to strike without mercy, striving to be the last one standing.

Thrilling and amusing, this first-person shooter multiplayer game puts your reflexes to the test. Rely on your instincts and conquer your apprehensions as you’re equipped with a flashlight and a revolver, only to find yourself in a dark mansion filled with friends who are also armed, creating an atmosphere of suspense and surprises at every turn.
Step into the realm of the Midnight Shadows Society, an exclusive group that invites you to rely on your perceptions and intuition, equipped initially only with a flashlight and a six-shooter in a completely dark mansion. Don a mask to conceal your identity as you merge with your comrades for a thrilling gunfight in the darkness. The choices you make will significantly impact the game, which revolves around perception, disguise, and marksmanship.
The beta will include two of the four modes that will be available in the final game, as follows:
- Free for All – Club members navigate the mansion alone, aiming to be the most deadly by the end of the round.
- Head Hunters – Two players take on the role of hunter to track down and prevent the remaining four players from finding and burning four hidden effigies.
In 2021, during our conversation with Velan Studios, Karthik Bala shared that they established Vicarious Visions back in 1991 while they were still in high school. After operating it for 25 years, they decided to move on at the 25th anniversary. So, Velan Studios was founded at the end of 2016, and now they’re approaching their fifth year. It’s incredible how quickly time passes! Their primary objective has always been to create unique gaming experiences or what they believe could be groundbreaking ones that seem like magic. The sensation a game gives during play is at the heart of Velan Studios.
The “Midnight Murder Club” game, scheduled for release on PC through Steam by the end of Q4 2024, offers an early glimpse with its open beta version, which is available for download and play right now.
