As a seasoned Guardian who has navigated countless worlds, faced endless enemies, and collected more Exotic weapons than I care to admit, I couldn’t be more excited about Bungie’s latest announcement for Destiny 2! The upcoming Vesper’s Host dungeon is shaping up to be a thrilling challenge, with the introduction of Contest Mode and a day-1 race.

Bungie has unveiled that the forthcoming Episode: Revenant’s dungeon, Vesper’s Host, will mark a first in Destiny 2 as it includes Content Mode and offers a race from day one. The second episode of Episode Echoes is now close to its conclusion, and over the past few weeks, Bungie has been disclosing fresh details about the upcoming installment. This new episode features the return of Scorn villain Fikrul, who has managed to secure one of the fallen Echoes that emerged following The Witness’s defeat during Destiny 2’s Final Shape expansion.

Starting in October, the second content pack titled “Revenant” commences, eventually leading to “Codename: Frontiers” during summer 2025. Although specifics are scarce, Bungie hinted at additional expansions for Destiny 2, including “Codename Apollo” and “Codename Behemoth,” along with four significant updates from summer 2025 through spring 2026. At this moment, the Revenant update also introduces modifications to the core game, particularly in removing time restrictions on the storyline, allowing players to progress through key events at their own pace rather than waiting multiple weeks between each. Furthermore, Bungie plans to deliver more content in the future as well.

This week’s blog post from Bungie has me absolutely thrilled! They’ve shared more insights about the upcoming dungeon in Destiny 2, set to launch in October. Known as Codename: Frontiers, the Episode Revenant is introducing a brand-new activity called Vesper’s Host, which marks a first for the Destiny 2 franchise. This dungeon will feature Contest Mode, a modifier that’s usually exclusive to Raids. In essence, Contest Mode tweaks the rules of the game, making enemies more aggressive, eliminating power advantages among characters, adding resuscitation tokens, and imposing limits on certain encounters. Bungie intends to keep this mode active for 48 hours, and those who manage to complete it will be rewarded with an emblem, along with a unique Dungeon exotic!

Destiny 2 Vesper’s Host Dungeon Features Contest Mode and a Race

Apart from revealing Contest Mode, Bungie has another surprise for Vesper’s Host. Drawing inspiration from past Raid Races in Destiny 2, they are also organizing a Dungeon Race. The goal is to find out which fireteams can complete the dungeon first. The top three teams to finish the dungeon will be declared winners and receive special rewards. To participate, players should have a Power level of 1985, possess a Final Shape dungeon key held by one team member, and ensure they have the Rogue Network quest active. For the Dungeon completion to be valid, every team member must loot the final chest.

Although plenty of enthusiasts are undoubtedly excited about the prospect of exploring Vesper’s Hold and collecting its unique loot, it’s unlikely that this new dungeon will be included in the weekly rotation anytime in the near future. Lately, Bungie has announced enhancements for the Weekly Dungeon and Raid rotator within Destiny 2, introducing two more options for each. This not only speeds up the process of cycling through all eight choices, but also provides players with additional chances to gather the equipment they desire. Moreover, Warlord’s Ruin is also being incorporated into the rotation, offering players an easier method for farming weapons like Buried Bloodline and Indebted Kindness.
