Black Myth: Wukong - Kang-Jin Loong Boss Fight Guide

As a seasoned adventurer who has braved the treacherous terrains of numerous games, I can confidently say that my encounter with Kang-Jin Loong in Black Myth: Wukong was an unforgettable experience. The icy landscapes of The New West were as chilling as the boss fight itself!

Following an arduous battle against the Yellow Wind Sage and retrieving the Buddha’s head, you will find yourself in the chilly realm of The New West. Kang-Jin Loong is a divine king known as Yaoguai in the game “Black Myth: Wukong,” making his entrance in chapter three.

As a gamer diving into the world of Black Myth: Wukong, I’ve come across a formidable foe named Kang-Jin Loong. Though he might not be the toughest battle in this chapter, overcoming him is crucial because it grants access to a fresh, unexplored area. This guide is your key to finding Kang-Jin Loong and uncovering strategies to defeat him!

If players have fulfilled Xu-Dog’s quest during the second chapter at Yellow Wind Ridge, they will be able to purchase a helpful substance called Shock-Quelling Powder from him for use in this battle.

Where To Find Kang-Jin Loong In Black Myth: Wukong

Following the conquest of Macaque Chief in New West, adventurers are free to delve into the Temple’s depths. Upon arriving at the courtyard, a scene unfolds, and you’ll soar to the Mirrormere with a Keeper’s Shrine positioned close by upon arrival. From the Keeper’s Shrine, continue forward to discover the initial Meditation Spot in Chapter 3. Straight ahead lies an Ice Lake, where you’ll encounter a new character who releases the formidable boss, Kang-Jin Loong, from their pouch.

How To Beat Kang-Jin Loong In Black Myth: Wukong

As a gamer, I find Kang-Jin Loong’s challenge doesn’t stem from brute strength or endurance, but rather the frustratingly tricky timing of landing hits on the boss. During the fight, the boss soars across the colossal ice lake, making it a test to complete even a single Light Attack combo. After each attack, the boss lowers its face close to the ground for a fleeting moment – a window of opportunity to land hits. However, avoiding the previous attacks may find me close to the dragon’s body, adding another layer of complexity to this battle.

Instead, aim for its head whenever possible. Since it tends to move erratically, targeting its body often results in several missed strikes.

The leader has a move where it forcefully hammers one of its claws onto the ground, producing a shockwave of electricity, followed by a strike with the same arm. A great chance to land additional blows arises when the boss slams its lower body towards you. If you manage to dodge this effectively, you can retaliate against its lower body before it recovers its position. Occasionally, Kang-Jin Loong may take flight and unleash multiple electric strikes across the battlefield. These can be easily identified on the ground and avoided promptly.

Since FireProof Mantle won’t be beneficial in this battle, it would be wiser to use the Wind Tamer Vessel you obtain after defeating Fuban in the Kingdom of Sahali instead.

Following repeated assaults that weaken the Yaoguai King and several attacks aimed at its focus bars, you will send it crashing onto the frozen ground. This is the ideal moment to employ your Ultimate Ability in conjunction with your Spirit Skill, inflicting a significant portion of damage on the boss’s overall health.

The

Spirit is one of the best Spirits to have as it increases your Defense, and if you can land it on the boss, it deals massive damage.

To dodge the Ice Breath attack, simply move towards the boss and position yourself directly beneath it. If you remain too close for long, the boss might execute an airborne attack, causing you to float in mid-air. This is followed by either a lightning strike or a basic claw combo.

Maintain your health level above 50% during the entire battle to avoid losing all your health or ending with only 1% left once the brief scene concludes.
