Instead of fighting in the game, one player in ARC Raiders is having fun by roleplaying as a shopkeeper. Surprisingly, other players are joining in and pretending to be customers instead of attacking them, creating a unique and friendly experience.
ARC Raiders has quickly become a major success in the gaming world. Sales have hit 12.4 million, building on the game’s strong performance since late 2025. It’s been instrumental in popularizing the extraction shooter genre, adding its own distinctive style. Beyond just sales, ARC Raiders stands out because it keeps players engaged for a long time. Hundreds of thousands of players are still actively playing on Steam, with daily peaks consistently near its record high from just two months ago. In today’s gaming landscape, where many online games struggle to hold onto players, ARC Raiders is proving remarkably resilient, especially considering it’s a brand new game.
This ARC Raiders Player is Spending Their Time As a Trader, and It’s Hilarious
TikTok creator Grimm Hollywood recently posted a video showcasing a unique way to play ARC Raiders. Instead of fighting, they roleplayed as a shopkeeper, laying out items and trading with another player using voice chat. They even bartered over prices! It’s a fun example of how players are finding creative and unexpected experiences within the game, going beyond what the developers originally planned.
This enjoyable way to play relies on other players cooperating and joining in the fun. While they could attack someone like Grimm Hollywood even when he’s just trying to trade, that would ruin the experience. What really makes it work is ARC Raiders‘ matchmaking system, which groups players with similar playstyles. This means if you choose not to immediately attack others, you’ll likely be matched with people who prefer the same approach. Without this system, someone playing a peaceful trader like Grimm Hollywood wouldn’t last long, as more competitive players would quickly eliminate them and take their resources.
It’s been great watching players enjoy ARC Raiders in so many different ways. Some love player-versus-player combat and will attack anyone they see, while others prefer to avoid conflict altogether. We’ve even seen players focus on quirky goals, like one who completely filled their storage with rubber ducks! This shows how versatile ARC Raiders is – players are free to specialize and play the game however they choose.
Image via Embark Studios Okay, so 2026 is looking HUGE for ARC Raiders! The devs at Embark Studios just announced they’re dropping a ton of new content over the next year, including several maps of different sizes. They haven’t given us the full plan for the year yet, though, so I’m definitely keeping an eye out for more details in the coming months. It sounds like they’re holding back some surprises, which is awesome!
