Perfect Games Released Since 2010

Man, games just keep getting more amazing, right? They look incredible, they’re packed with stuff to do, and they’re constantly borrowing cool ideas from other games to make things even better. But honestly, even the games I love aren’t perfect. I find myself getting totally hooked on titles that have obvious flaws, but the good parts are just so strong that I don’t even care! It’s like the awesome gameplay and story more than make up for any problems.

As a gamer, I’ve come across a few titles that just feel… flawless. This list is all about those games – the ones released since 2010 that are seriously hard to fault. I’m looking at everything when I think about what makes a game great: how fun and memorable it is, what new things it brought to the table, how polished and technically sound it is, and whether I still want to play it years later. But it’s important to remember that everyone has different tastes, and no list can ever include every game someone might think is perfect.

This list features only brand new games, excluding any re-releases, remakes, or remastered versions of titles you may have played before.

10. Grand Theft Auto 5

Still The Modern Day Open-World King

It might seem surprising to find Grand Theft Auto 5 at number 10, considering how incredibly popular and successful it is, especially with the ongoing updates to GTA Online. However, while GTA 5 has been hugely influential, it’s beginning to feel dated. Fans have been eagerly awaiting GTA 6 for 13 years, and after several delays, it’s finally on its way.

True to Rockstar’s style, GTA 5 remains the gold standard for open-world games, far surpassing its rivals. Its setting in a contemporary city is still unusual for the genre, considering how much work goes into building such a detailed world. Even newer games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs: Legion haven’t reached the same level of quality as GTA 5, and that says a lot.

9. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

Bethesda’s Peak Achievement

Bethesda is a well-known studio, but many consider their 2011 game, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, to be their greatest success – a truly special achievement they haven’t quite matched since. When it first came out, Skyrim was remarkable, offering a huge, immersive world, incredible freedom, and well-developed role-playing gameplay. While it wasn’t without its technical flaws, most people were willing to overlook them given everything else the game offered.

Even after all this time, Skyrim is the first game people think of when they hear the names Todd Howard or his studio – it’s become more popular than any Fallout game released since. It remains the most beloved open-world RPG, thanks to numerous re-releases, a huge and active modding community, and a consistently large player base. Fans are hoping The Elder Scrolls 6 will be just as influential, but matching Skyrim‘s success seems like a very high bar to clear.

8. God Of War

A Flawless Franchise Revival

God of War is a standout title among Sony’s PlayStation 4 exclusives, solidifying Kratos’ place as a hugely popular and iconic video game character. While some believe Red Dead Redemption 2 deserved Game of the Year more, that ultimately comes down to personal preference. It’s hard to deny that the new God of War is a near-perfect action-adventure game, brilliantly fulfilling its design goals.

As a huge fan, I can honestly say that God of War is incredible in every way you can imagine – the graphics are stunning, the music is epic, and just exploring the world is a blast. The combat is amazing, and the story and characters really drew me in. It’s clear a ton of care went into making this game, and it feels so polished. What I love most is how it honors the older games while also taking the series in a bold, new direction. It’s easily one of the best revivals of a franchise I’ve ever seen, and I’m so excited to see what they do with the series next!

7. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Probably Gaming’s Best Debut Ever

Wow, as a gamer, I can honestly say Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best game I’ve played all year – and there have been a lot of good ones! It’s seriously an incredible debut, and I think it’s going to change how RPGs are made. It takes turn-based combat and adds something totally new and exciting. It feels like this game isn’t just setting a trend, it’s a complete experience that others will try to follow!

Players have been waiting a long time for an RPG as captivating as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It boasts a fantastic story, memorable characters, stunning visuals, and a genuine emotional core, leading many to say it’s the first game to truly resonate with them since the classic Final Fantasy titles. While the game does feature some challenging platforming sections, they’re completely optional and only offer cosmetic rewards, so players shouldn’t feel held back if that isn’t their preference.

6. Minecraft

The Ultimate Creative Sandbox That’s Here to Stay

Minecraft’s incredible success – becoming the best-selling game ever – likely comes down to how well it’s designed. It’s simple yet endlessly expandable, meaning it could stay popular for many years to come. Think of it as a digital version of LEGO: an open-world game built with interactive blocks that gives players almost unlimited creative freedom.

Minecraft offers something for everyone with its four different play styles – from surviving in a challenging world to embarking on adventures, tackling a hardcore experience, or building anything you can imagine. Plus, it’s easy to play with others online. What’s really amazing is that dedicated fans have rebuilt famous places from movies, books, and even real life, creating incredible sights that are unique in the gaming world. Even people who don’t usually play games find it fascinating to see what’s possible with this creative platform.

5. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Nintendo’s Open-World Marvel

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is another open-world game, but it’s easily one of Nintendo’s best, and that’s saying something! It truly captures the magic of video games, creating an immersive world of adventure that provides endless hours of fun.

What’s truly remarkable is how well this massive game runs on portable devices. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is both a technical achievement and a beautiful work of art, with every detail carefully considered. Its follow-up, Tears of the Kingdom, proved Nintendo’s mastery of the formula, either equaling or improving upon the original by adding a new level of creativity and giving players powerful, versatile tools to explore endless options.

4. Baldur’s Gate 3

So Good It Almost Feels Like A Dream

Man, ever since Baldur’s Gate 3 came out, all anyone’s been saying is how unbelievably good it is. It honestly makes a lot of other RPGs feel… well, a little outdated. Larian really knows their stuff, and this game feels like the culmination of everything they’ve learned over the years. It’s totally raised the bar for classic, turn-based RPGs, and the way it works is just on another level. It’s seriously impressive.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has become a favorite for many RPG fans. It offers incredible freedom to create your own character and experience a unique story with a huge range of combat options, making it a consistently popular single-player game. It’s arguably the ideal RPG, though its turn-based combat and reliance on dice rolls might not appeal to everyone.

3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

A Wholesome RPG Classic That Aged Beautifully

If you weren’t a fan of Baldur’s Gate 3, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a fantastic alternative. Released a decade ago, it’s still considered one of the best open-world RPGs, especially for players who prioritize a strong story, compelling quests, and memorable characters. The Witcher 3 perfectly blends classic, dialogue-focused gameplay with the modern open-world style we’ve seen for the last ten years. Its incredible atmosphere, vast scope, and consistently engaging plot have allowed it to hold up remarkably well, and many still consider it CD Projekt Red’s greatest achievement.

Talk of a potential new downloadable content has brought many players back to The Witcher 3, proving how much they love the game and its characters. The most frequent complaint is the large number of minor side quests marked on the map – often just leading to extra items – particularly in the Skellige region. However, this is a small issue and doesn’t diminish the overall experience of this outstanding role-playing game, which is relatively rare.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2

Easily Among The Best Of The Decade

When Red Dead Redemption 2 first came out in 2018, God of War won Game of the Year. However, over time, RDR 2 has gained a lot more recognition and frequently appears at the top of “best games of the decade” lists, and it’s hard to disagree with that assessment. It seems Red Dead Redemption 2 has become more beloved over the years, consistently sparking conversation and standing out among other games.

What makes Red Dead Redemption 2 truly special is its incredibly realistic and immersive open world and the believable characters that inhabit it. While the game is technically brilliant—perhaps the most polished ever made—some of its older design choices and occasionally limiting missions can be frustrating. Many players are hoping that the next Grand Theft Auto game will improve upon these minor issues.

1. Elden Ring

Reaching For Absolute Greatness

Elden Ring represents years of refinement of FromSoftware’s established style, and a key move to apply their signature Dark Souls gameplay to a vast, open world. The result is a unique fantasy RPG offering incredible combat, deep character customization, and a huge variety of bosses and enemies. It features some of the most detailed worlds and rich storytelling in the genre, creating a truly epic and memorable gaming experience – something that’s often missing in today’s games.

What’s fascinating about Elden Ring is that its creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, admits it isn’t quite his ideal fantasy RPG – though it’s very near! It makes you wonder if FromSoftware’s best work is still to come, even though it’s hard to picture them surpassing a game of this magnitude.
