A Curious Child Walkthrough – Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

A Curious Child Walkthrough - Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

As an old-timer gamer who’s seen the evolution of Zelda games from the dungeons of Hyrule to the vast expanse of Echoes of Wisdom, I must say that “A Curious Child” side quest is a breath of fresh air. It’s simple, yet it adds depth to the game world and makes you interact with its residents in a meaningful way.

In the game “Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom”, Zols are among the weaker monsters, but to finish a side mission called “A Curious Child”, you’ll need to grasp three types of Echoes. This quest becomes accessible once you’ve sealed the rifts in Hyrule Castle. A boy will then request to see a typical Zol, an Ignizol, and a Hydrozol. Since transporting a real Zol throughout Hyrule for just one side mission would be risky and time-consuming, the Echo ability comes in handy, as it lets you duplicate items and enemies. To complete this simple quest before proceeding with your “Echoes of Wisdom” adventure, you’ll need to learn the Echo for each Zol type and display them to the child.

Where to Find Every Type of Zol

Once Zelda has updated her appearance and regained her honor, feel free to explore Hyrule Castle and Hyrule Castle Town at your leisure. Before departing from Castle Town, take a glance towards the southwest corner. You’ll spot a house with a brown roof near the well that once led into the castle during the rift. A young boy with a distinctive red quest marker hovering above him is there. Engage in conversation with him to embark on the “A Curious Child” side mission.

Part 1: Zol Location in Echoes of Wisdom

  • The boy wants to see a Zol, which are those green blob monsters you found on Suthorn Shore. In fact, it’s probably the first monster you’ve registered in your Notebook. If, for some reason, you don’t have the Zol Echo, then warp to Suthorn Village and take the left exit to Suthorn Shore, or take the right exit to find Zols roaming the tall grass.

Part 2: Ignizol Location in Echoes of Wisdom

  • After showing him the Zol Echo, he’ll ask for an Ignizol and then a Hydrozol. It’s likely you already have the Ignizol at this point in your playthrough. If not, you can find one in a cave to the east of Suthorn Village or in Zora Cove.

Navigate your way towards Suthorn Village, and take the eastward path that leads to the Suthorn Ruins. Keep an eye on the northern wall as you travel; there’s a cave entrance you’ll spot. Inside, you’ll encounter ordinary Zols and an Ignizol. Overcome the Ignizol to acquire its Echo. Be mindful, as Ignizol’s light can ignite everything around it, so proceed with caution. Should Zelda get burned, press the R-button promptly to extinguish the flames. For a clearer understanding of the location, refer to the image above (Zelda icon marks the spot).

Part 3: Hydrozol Location in Echoes of Wisdom

  • As for the Hydrozol, you’ll have to go an extra step. The boy doesn’t just want to see the Hydrozol Echo; he wants to see a “large” Hydrozol. After learning the Echo, place it in the fountain in Hyrule Castle Town to make it grow. Alternatively, you can use the Water Block Echo. Once it’s absorbed enough water, carry it to the boy to complete the side quest.

In the vicinity or within bodies of water, you might encounter Hydrozols. Setting off from Seesyde Village, swim southwest towards Zora Cove. Once there, look for a cave entrance nearby. A shipwreck visible to the south of the cave will mark its position. Enter the cave and you’ll find all three types of Zols residing there. Hydrozols expand when they come into contact with water, but remain relatively feeble. A powerful Echo is all it takes to eliminate them in a single strike. As this cave can be difficult to locate, consult Zelda’s icon on the provided map image for its precise position.

During the “A Rift in the Faron Wetlands” main mission, Hydrozols can also be discovered. But for immediate registration of the Hydrozol, head straight to the Hydrozol found within the Zora Cove Cave instead.

What to Do with Might Crystals?

For the inquisitive youngster known as “The Curious Child”, there’s a prize waiting – a Powerful Crystal. These crystals can be utilized to enhance your Swordfighter Form (which includes energy, sword, bow, and bomb abilities). However, you must first finish this side mission to access it, as it paves the way for the later quest titled “The Elusive Zol from Beyond”. To embark on this late-game adventure, you’ll need to wrap up numerous other missions first. Once accomplished, the enigmatic Gizmol will be yours to discover and completing this quest rewards you with a fragment of Heart.
