Key Takeaways
- The Thrust Stance in Black Myth: Wukong is one that is versatile with counter abilities, a lot of range, and power.
- Stone Vanguard and Shigandang are some great examples of bosses to face using the Thrust Stance.
- Strategic use of the Whirling Thrust move and Charged Heavy Attacks in the Thrust Stance can absolutely melt bosses.
As an experienced adventurer who’s faced my fair share of mythical beasts and mystical entities, I must say, these living carts in Chapter 5 are quite the oddballs, more of a nuisance than a formidable foe. However, don’t let their lackluster moves fool you, they can still test your patience!
In the game Black Myth: Wukong, the Thrust Stance offers a highly adaptable combat choice. Unlike the agile and powerful Smash Stance or the extended-reach and stable Pillar Stance, the Thrust Stance combines elements of both mobility and power.
As a passionate admirer of combat styles, I must say, this stance is reminiscent of both Smash and Pillar stances but boasts an exceptional quality – the Whirling Thrust. With the right technique and strategy, it can swiftly annihilate any adversary or boss in Black Myth: Wukong. Given its prowess, I’d like to share my top picks for bosses to test this stance against.
8 Stone Vanguard & Shigandang
Chapter 2
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Stone Vengaurd | Fright Cliff | Yaoguai King | Sterness of Stone Key Item, 3x Silk, & 1x Mind Core |
Shigandang | Fright Cliff | Yaoguai King | Heart of Stone Material, 1x Yaoguai Core, 1x Mind Core, & Skandha of Feeling Key Item |
Users will swiftly identify a pattern in our suggested bosses for employing the Thrust Stance against: those with expansive attack windows. Any boss displaying a wide or even moderately sized opening where a player could charge in with Whirling Thrust is vulnerable to being shattered by Thrust Stance, and the Stone Vanguard and Shigandang from Chapter 2 serve as excellent demonstrations of this concept.
The two bosses are extremely large and durable adversaries, capable of inflicting massive damage when they strike. However, they tend to have lengthy periods without attacking. Moreover, despite their area-of-effect attacks, they can be maintained at a distance using Thrust stance, as long as the Main Character utilizes a 2 or more Focus Point Heavy Attack for range.
7 Fuban
Chapter 2
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Fuban | Kingdom of Sahali | Yaoguai King | Wind Tamer Vessel & Sky-Piercing Horn Material |
Battle against Fuban might appear intimidating initially, but upon closer examination, there are numerous opportunities for exploit, particularly with Whirling Thrust and strategically timed Forceful Thrust. This colossal beetle adorned with a Buddha image on its back packs a punch and boasts high durability, yet when it topples over and during its pauses in attack, the Destined One can swiftly deplete its health bar by dodging around.
When the Yellow Wind Sage enters the fight, there are certain extended periods during which players can significantly deplete their health by spinning around Fuban as it basks in the sunlight.
6 Yellowbrow
Chapter 3
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Yellowbrow | New Thunderclap Temple | Yaoguai King | Cosmo Radiance Material, 2x Fine Gold Thread, 3x Cold Iron Leaves, 2x Refined Iron Sand, 1x Gold Tree Core, & 1x Mind Core |
Yellowbrow is the initial character showcased here where the Heavy Charged Attacks in Thrust Stance and Forceful Thrust are more beneficial than Whirling Thrust, although this doesn’t imply that the traditional ‘win with whirl’ strategy doesn’t yield success against him (as it does).
During the final stage of combat, Yellowbrow transforms completely golden and becomes resistant to regular attacks. However, a powerful strike from a Heavy Attack is required to break this form. In such situations, Forceful Thrust offers a swift solution that can be swiftly followed by Whirling Thrust if players have invested enough Sparks into the Thrust Stance skill tree. This makes it a convenient choice for dealing damage and continuing the combo efficiently.
5 Red Boy & Yaksha King
Chapter 5
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Red Boy | Field of Fire | Yaoguai King | N/A |
Yaksha King | Field of Fire | Yaoguai King | The Plantain Fan Vessel, 1x Celestial Ribbon, 1x Fine Gold Thread, 2x Gold Tree Cores, 1x Kun Steel, & 1x Mind Core |
In this challenging battle against Red Boy, maintaining a slight distance can significantly change the dynamics of the fight. Interestingly, Red Boy (and the Yaksha King aspect) doesn’t follow the Destined One as closely as many other bosses during their attack patterns. This makes it simpler to keep your distance and employ strategies like Tactical Retreat and Forceful Thrust effectively, ensuring safe damage is dealt.
While Red Boy’s attacks aren’t universally problematic – particularly his Area of Effect spikes and Samahdi Fire blasts – this battle requires careful strategy to succeed. This is the one fight where we strongly advise against over-relying on Whirling Thrust. The timing for its use is limited in this encounter. However, the payoff is substantial; the Plantain Fan bonus granted upon victory significantly boosts the Destined One’s abilities, making it a worthwhile challenge.
4 Gold Armored Rhino
Chapter 6
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Gold Armored Rhino | Foothills | Yaoguai Chief | Gold Suozi Armor, 1x Fine Gold Thread, 1x Mind Core, & Cold Iron Leaves |
In Chapter 6, the Gold-Armored Rhino’s battle is primarily constructed to penalize players for attacking it with anything other than a Heavy Attack. Moreover, the rhino’s attacks have limited range, making the Thrust Stance particularly effective against it due to its close combat nature.
In this scenario, players have the option to strike the Rhino from its flank to accumulate Focus Points. Once a single point is gained, they can quickly move to the front of the Rhino and perform Tactical Retreat into Forceful Thrust to shatter its horn, followed immediately by Whirling Thrust to exploit its weakened position. While other stances can also be effective, we find that the Thrust Stance tends to yield the best results in most instances.
3 Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind
Chapter 5
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Quick as Fire & Fast as Wind | Woods of Ember | Yaoguai Chiefs | 1x Gold Tree Core & 1x Refined Iron Sand |
Often overlooked by Wukong players, and surprisingly using Thrust Stance, this boss might not be the one many anticipate. However, it turns out to be a fitting match. The unique feature of its two colossal heads is that the Destined One can make them collide with each other.
When someone aims to propel one ball towards another, do they strike it from above or jab at it? In a manner similar to pool play, they indeed jab at it. This is a skill the Chosen One excels in with Thrust Stance. Furthermore, when either of these objects becomes exhausted or collides with the other, they remain stationary for quite some time, leaving themselves open to attack. It is during this period that the Chosen One can exploit their weaknesses by swiftly depleting their health bars with Whirling Thrust.
2 The Five-Element Carts
Chapter 5
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Brown-Iron Cart | Woods of Ember | Yaoguai Chief | Cold Iron Leaves & 2x Silk |
Gray-Bronze Cart | Woods of Ember | Yaoguai Chief | Cold Iron Leaves & 2x Silk |
Golden Cart | Furnace Valley’s Entrance | NPC | Dark Thunder Transformation |
Crimson-Silver | Furnace Valley | Yaoguai Chief | Cold Iron Leaves & 2x Silk |
Rusty-Gold Cart | Field of Fire | Yaoguai Chief | Flame Orb Curio, 1x Fine Gold Thread, 1x Mind Core, & 2x Cold Iron Leaves |
In various locations of Chapter 5, you’ll encounter mobile entities that aren’t traditional challenging bosses per se. Instead, they possess limited movesets, making encounters with them more about enduring patience than showcasing your dexterity or other skills.
Apart from possibly the Crimson-Silver Cart, they remain quite immobile, thus becoming an easily exploited target for the Whirling Thrust attack in Thrust Stance. With a well-designed build like our Spellbinder setup focusing on high damage output, a brief application of the Whirling Thrust on one of these stationary objects is sufficient to destroy them permanently.
1 Mother of Stones
Chapter 2
Name | Location | Enemy Type | Reward |
---|---|---|---|
Mother of Stones | Fright Cliff | Yaoguai Chief | 1x Stone Essence, 2x Yarn, & 2x Silk |
In the game, I come across the Mother of Stones, a boss reminiscent of the Shigandang or Stone Vanguard, as she barely stirs from her stone form. Yet, it’s not just her that poses a challenge; small stone guai guardians spring up to shield the Mother, forcing me to strategize and act carefully lest I rush in too hastily and fail to defeat this ancient entity.
With the Thrust Stance, the Chosen One can jab at the Stone Matriarch while simultaneously dodging the rocky guai or holding back from a prolonged Whirling Thrust. This approach forces both the Chosen One and the Stone Matriarch into a DPS contest, determining who will perish first between the two combatants. In terms of tactics, this is one of the most straightforward suggestions because the Stone Matriarch lacks the ability to retaliate or defend itself in the initial stages.
