After 3 Years, Attack On Titan’s True Heir Is Finally On Crunchyroll

This article contains spoilers for Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Attack on Titan was an incredibly popular and highly-regarded anime series, becoming one of the best of all time. Though it sadly ended in 2023 with its final season, fans have been searching for a new show to take its place. While nothing can truly replace Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has emerged as a strong contender and a worthy successor.

Watching the current arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, the Culling Game, reminds me a lot of how I felt watching Attack on Titan near its conclusion – a constant sense of unease and dread. After a two-year break, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has come back strong, and right from the start, it’s captured that same dark, ominous atmosphere. Honestly, as a fan, I’m completely hooked and eager to see where the story goes next.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Is Attack on Titan’s New Heir

Though the popular anime Attack on Titan finished airing over two years ago, Jujutsu Kaisen, created by Gege Akutami, is quickly becoming a new favorite known for its dark and intense themes.

The latest season of Jujutsu Kaisen, Season 3, premiered on January 8, 2026. It’s been promoted as even more intense than previous seasons, which has fans really looking forward to it. With the conclusion of Attack on Titan, many believe Jujutsu Kaisen is a natural successor, and Season 3, which begins the Culling Game Arc, certainly seems poised to fill that role.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Game Will Make the Series a Darker Shonen, Just Like Attack on Titan

The first story arc of Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season will be “The Culling Game.” Fans have been eagerly waiting for this arc, and for good reason – it’s expected to be the most intense and violent part of the anime so far.

The upcoming ‘Culling Game’ arc will likely make Jujutsu Kaisen even more intense and grim, featuring several brutal fights. With Gojo now out of the picture, no character is guaranteed to survive, which will greatly increase the tension. Fans of Attack on Titan will recognize this feeling of constant danger – the fear that any beloved character could die at any moment. Just like AoT fans experienced starting in 2023, JJK Season 3 will keep viewers on edge, never knowing when a character’s story might end.

Both shows excel at building suspense through characters with hidden, often malicious, plans. Jujutsu Kaisen features the scheming Kenjaku, while Attack on Titan gradually unveils a world of unsettling truths, particularly after its third season.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a unique series that effectively combines action with mature, darker elements. For viewers who enjoyed Attack on Titan and are looking for something similar, it’s currently the best option available.

Will Attack on Titan Ever Return?

Although Jujutsu Kaisen has stepped up to entertain fans after Attack on Titan ended, it won’t ever fully take its place. While the two shows share some similarities, they’re both unique and beloved in their own ways. Ultimately, many fans are hoping for a continuation or new project related to Attack on Titan itself.

Unfortunately, since the manga finished in 2021, continuing the story is no longer an option. Eren and his friends’ journey has come to an end, and it would be difficult to add to their stories after the way the series concluded.

Instead of continuing the main story, a prequel series might be a better direction for Attack on Titan. There’s already source material available in the manga ‘Attack on Titan: Before the Fall.’ We’ve seen this work well with another popular series, My Hero Academia, which successfully launched a prequel manga called ‘MHA: Vigilantes.’ An Attack on Titan prequel would likely be very popular and successful, even if the story itself wasn’t exceptional.
