LEGO and Nintendo have worked together successfully many times in the past. Several of Nintendo’s most famous characters and game series have been made into LEGO sets, and Mario is a particularly popular choice – which makes sense, as he’s Nintendo’s biggest star! While many new Nintendo LEGO sets are coming out this year, some older sets are being discontinued, and many of those feature Mario.
LEGO regularly stops making certain sets, which means fans who’ve been hoping to buy them don’t have much time left. While new sets like the Legend of Zelda LEGO are exciting, Nintendo fans – especially those who love Mario – should hurry and get their favorite Mario LEGO sets before they’re discontinued. These sets are perfect for dedicated fans and could become valuable collectibles.

Okay, so as a big Nintendo fan, I’m keeping track of which LEGO sets are retiring, and while it’s not the last one, the Adventures with Interactive LEGO Mario & Standard Kart set is one of the final Mario options available. It’s really cool because, like the Baby Mario vs. Baby Luigi set, it focuses on Mario Kart – and we’ve seen a few Mario Kart LEGO sets already, like the Blue Shell one! Honestly, even though Mario himself isn’t always my favorite character, this set feels like a must-have for anyone who’s been playing Mario Kart for years. The good news is, we still have some time to decide if we want it – it’s going to be around for the rest of the year, which is a relief!

Mario isn’t the only popular Nintendo character whose LEGO sets are being retired. Sets featuring favorites like Bowser, Peach, Wario, Toad, and even the Piranha Plant are going away permanently. While everyone has different opinions on the ‘best’ sets, Prince Floran & Castle Bowser and Piranha Plant Power-Up Pursuit are standouts that many collectors will be eager to get their hands on.
It’s disappointing to see many Nintendo LEGO sets being discontinued this year, but LEGO has plenty of new and exciting sets coming out to replace them. The 2026 collection looks fantastic, with great options available even if you’re not a Nintendo fan. Whether you’re trying to collect everything Mario-related or just want a fun new build, there are lots of choices available now – but they won’t be around forever.
