Embark Studios, the team behind the popular shooter ARC Raiders, knows players really want a way to save their preferred gear setups. They hint that this feature, which would improve the game’s interface, might be added in a future update. While ARC Raiders has been very successful, players have been sharing feedback about the game’s menus and design, and Embark is listening to those suggestions as they continue to support the game after its launch.
Despite a challenging development process that included a complete overhaul, Embark’s decision to delay and reimagine ARC Raiders as a PvPvE game has proven successful. Launched in October – a crowded month with the release of Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – ARC Raiders has already sold over 12 million copies and broken several records. The game has received excellent reviews from both players and critics, consistently ranking among the most popular titles on Steam, and was even named Best Multiplayer Game at the 2025 Game Awards, establishing it as a major success in the live-service gaming landscape.
ARC Raiders Devs Know Players Want Saved Loadouts
With so many people playing ARC Raiders daily, it’s not surprising that players have ideas for making the game even better. While the developers at Embark regularly add new content, a popular request is an improved user interface that would let players save their preferred weapon setups. This would reduce time spent in the Speranza hub and allow more time exploring Topside. According to the game’s design lead, Virgil Watkins, the team at Embark is aware of this feedback and has been discussing how to implement the feature.
Like many games where you collect items and gear, ARC Raiders requires a lot of time managing your inventory. Players have noted they sometimes spend more time in menus than actually playing raids. When asked about adding features like saved loadouts to speed things up, the developer acknowledged they’ve discussed it. However, they explained that implementing these features before launch depends on available development time and prioritizing tasks. They’re currently figuring out how to best fit these improvements into their schedule, potentially adjusting what they work on based on what’s realistically achievable.
During an interview, the developer, Watkins, confessed to using a pre-set, free loadout in ARC Raiders to save time, mirroring a common workaround players use. He confirmed the team is aware of fan complaints about the cumbersome process of creating new loadouts, acknowledging the number of clicks it currently takes. While he believes saved loadouts are a beneficial feature, he deferred questions about potential UI/UX improvements to the dedicated team.
Although players likely won’t get the ability to save custom loadouts in the next few weeks, the developers at Embark know about the demand and appear open to adding it. Currently, the studio is reportedly preparing to launch a new update this week that includes a “Toxic Swamp” map modifier. The last update, released on January 13th, finally reduced the power of the popular “Trigger Nade,” which had been overpowering in player-versus-player combat. Update 1.11.0 also slowed down the firing rate of the “Kettle” weapon, as some players were using software to make it shoot much faster than it was designed to.
