As a long-time fan of Final Fantasy 14, I can hardly contain my excitement for Crossroads, the latest content patch in Dawntrail! The housing updates and new Alliance Raids have me eagerly counting down the days until its release.
As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled about Crossroads, the initial content update for Dawntrail, which is poised to introduce a significant housing feature and a fresh content type into Final Fantasy 14. Despite its rocky start, Final Fantasy 14 has climbed steadily in popularity over the years, carving out a place as one of the finest MMOs available today. The release of Shadowbringers attracted numerous new players, while Endwalker saw our subscriber count nearly double during its launch. Though Dawntrail’s narrative received mixed reviews, Final Fantasy 14 remains popular, with players praising the innovative content introduced by this expansion.
Of particular interest is the Arcadion raid from the game Final Fantasy 14, particularly its second boss, Honey B. Lovely. Although the Arcadion won’t release its second wing until Patch 7.2, players can look forward to the first Alliance Raid for Dawntrail in Crossroads instead. This new Alliance Raid series, known as Echoes of Vana’diel, was hinted at before Dawntrail’s launch and serves as a tribute to Final Fantasy 11. Patch 7.1 will transport players to Jeuno for the first Alliance Raid, but Crossroads has much more in store.
In November 2024 (either the 12th or the 19th), the upcoming version 7.1 of “Final Fantasy 14” is set to be released, and it will introduce an entirely new battle content type – Chaotic Alliance Raids. This type of content falls between Extreme Trials and Savage Raids in terms of difficulty within “Final Fantasy 14”. The designers have crafted Chaotic specifically for 24 players, aiming to revamp boss fights from previous Alliance Raids as premier endgame content. The debut Chaotic Alliance Raid will center around the Cloud of Darkness as its sole encounter, and it will require a new degree of collaboration among “Final Fantasy 14” players.
Final Fantasy 14 Adds New Alliance Raid Content and Housing Changes in Patch 7.1
Besides the Chaotic Alliance Raid, Final Fantasy 14 players seeking a tough test can also anticipate the latest Ultimate, titled Futures Rewritten. This upcoming trial takes inspiration from the Eden Raids and includes Ryne as a key character. The new Unreal trial launches with the Four Lords from Stormblood, with Byakko serving as the main boss for Update 7.1. However, what truly sparks excitement in Crossroads is the introduction of several quality-of-life improvements to Final Fantasy 14 and its housing system.
From Patch 7.1 onwards, players in Final Fantasy 14 gain the ability to customize their house interiors, including getting rid of the frequently criticized columns present in the default designs. To facilitate this feature, Square Enix plans to introduce new interior design options over time. Future updates for Final Fantasy 14 will also enable players to increase the size of their housing interiors at a significant cost in gil.
In the upcoming Patch 7.1, we’ll see fresh Allied Society quests, kick-starting the initial section of Hildibrand Adventures: Dawntrail, new Custom Deliveries in Shaaloani, a challenging Sphene Extreme Trial, and significant overhauls for all PvP roles except Pictomancer and Viper. It’s worth mentioning that developers have emphasized that PvP roles in Final Fantasy 14 will offer a distinct experience compared to their PvE counterparts.
