Where to Get Eggs in Hytale

Unlike many other survival games, Hytale doesn’t focus heavily on constant hunger. However, eating good food is still beneficial, giving you extra health and stamina. To cook these meals, you’ll need to collect specific ingredients. For example, eggs are crucial for baking, but you can’t simply find them lying around. You’ll need to raise chickens and provide a suitable habitat for them. This Hytale guide will show you how to build your own chicken farm, ensuring a steady supply of eggs for all your cooking needs.

How to Get Chickens in Hytale

While exploring the forests and meadows of Zone 1, you’ll sometimes come across chickens. They aren’t rare, but you won’t see them everywhere either. If you’re looking, keep an eye out while you’re in grassy areas – they tend to wander around.

You don’t have to trick adult chickens into coming to your base—you can simply catch them! Use a Capture Crate, which you can build at a Farmer’s Workbench. Just remember to upgrade your workbench first, and make sure you have all the necessary crafting materials.

After crafting a Capture Crate, simply hold it and click on a chicken to trap it inside. Bring the crate back to your base, then click again to let the chicken out.

How to Get & Use Chicken Coops in Hytale

Chickens left wandering around your base might disappear over time. To keep them safe and get a steady supply of eggs, you’ll need to build a Chicken Coop.

You can build chicken coops using the Farmer’s Workbench with wood, essences of life, and plant fibers. Simply place a coop near your base and let your chickens roam nearby. The game will automatically move them into the coop, and they’ll happily stay there.

How to Get Eggs

Chickens will lay one egg each day if they are kept in coops. You’ll see a bag near the coop entrance when eggs are ready to collect. At night, chickens will automatically go inside their coops, and you can gather one egg from each chicken there every morning. Each coop can hold up to 6 chickens, which is a good number for producing high-quality healing food in Hytale.

As a chicken keeper, I’ve noticed my hens just seem to lay eggs whenever! It’s fun to check the coops and sometimes get a little surprise bonus egg, but it doesn’t happen super often unless you have a really big flock.

If you have more than six chickens near a coop, any extra chickens will continue to lay eggs randomly. However, it’s best to build them a new coop to prevent them from disappearing.
