Hytale is emerging as a rival to Minecraft, offering similar creative freedom. But instead of choosing between them, a mod could allow players to enjoy both games together with crossplay!
It’s amazing to think about how someone managed to pull this off! Hytale is brand new, yet players can already connect to the same servers as Minecraft players thanks to crossplay. While the games are alike, this accomplishment is truly remarkable. And the initial results are incredibly promising.
Hytale & Minecraft Crossplay Mod In Action
A Reddit user named SSquadTeam recently posted about a project they’re working on in the Hytale subreddit. The post, titled ‘Hytale Client & Minecraft Client Crossplay! (W.I.P.),’ featured some images of their progress so far.

So, the mod isn’t available for download just yet, but the creator says things are progressing really well! They’ve actually proven it’s possible for players from different games to all be in the same world – I saw the video they posted on X (they go by iamcxv7) and it’s pretty amazing!
A short gameplay clip shows how well the game is currently functioning. What’s really neat is that players can see what others are doing within their own individual games. While the core design and layout are consistent, Minecraft and Hytale each bring a unique visual style to the experience.

On Reddit, a user explained that the Hytale Server is currently the main host for the game. They noted that many features are still not working correctly, and the Hytale Server has the most control at this time. Currently, players using the standard Minecraft client can only see and interact with other Minecraft players and those playing on the Hytale Server. Regarding the long-term maintenance of the project, the user stated they’re dedicated to it, but even if they stop working on it, it will eventually be released as open-source code, allowing others to continue development.
Even though there could be legal and practical challenges, it’s exciting to imagine a future where players of Minecraft and Hytale can all play together in one shared world.
