Speak to the Scared NPC

If you go north from where Chadley is in the Sector 5 Slums, you’ll find a frightened man who will offer Cloud the ‘Weapons on a Rampage’ side quest.

He tasks the pair with tracking down and destroying five powerful weapons created by Shinra, referring to them as ‘floating eyeballs.’ These are actually the Mark II Monodrive enemies.

Mark II Monodrive Locations

You can find the first group of Mark II Monodrive monsters on the north side of Scrapyard Back Alley – it’s the red box on the left in the picture.

You’ll find the next group of monsters nearby, just east of your current location in the Twilight Valley (highlighted by the red box on the map). Be aware that the green ‘Goal’ marker on your in-game map isn’t precise, so don’t rely on it to pinpoint the enemies’ exact location.

First, let the Mark II Monodrives create a protective shield. Then, use a powerful magic attack to break through it. If Aerith or Cloud have the Wind Materia, it will deal extra damage, but most other magic spells will also be effective.

What’s the Reward for Completing Weapons a Rampage Side Quest in FF7 Remake?

Once you’ve defeated five Mark II Monodrives, the game will automatically take you back to the person who gave you the quest, so you won’t have to run all the way back to town.

After you talk to the man, he’ll give you Protective Boots as a reward. These boots don’t boost your stats, but they’ll protect you from being slowed or stopped. Talking to him also unlocks a new Side Quest called ‘Paying Respects.’ You can start it by finding the old man near the weapons shop.
