1 Hytale Settings Change Makes a Big Difference

A social media user reported that disabling the in-game interface in Hytale could boost the game’s performance by about 60%. While players who’ve tried the early version of Hytale are enjoying it, the game is still in development, and developer Hypixel Studios is working to fix bugs and improve the experience.

Originally born from a popular fan server within Minecraft called Hypixel, the development of Hytale faced several challenges. In 2025, Riot Games shut down Hytale‘s development and closed Hypixel Studios. However, the studio’s founder, Simon Collins-Laflamme, stepped in with plans to buy Hytale and Hypixel Studios from Riot and its parent company, Tencent. He succeeded, and Hypixel Studios was reborn as an independent studio. As a result, Hytale launched in early access on January 13th as a standalone game for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Players can access the game by purchasing one of three early access versions, starting at $20.

Hiding Hytale’s HUD Could Increase the Game’s Performance

Despite some technical problems with the early access release of Hytale, the game’s creator, Collins-Laflamme, says he stands by the launch. One player, MadwolfBF, shared on the Hytale subreddit that they found a way to significantly improve performance. By turning off the game’s heads-up display (HUD) using the F8 key, they boosted their frames per second (FPS) by 60%, jumping from 250 to 400. Pressing F8 cycles through different views: once hides the HUD while keeping the player’s arms and held items visible, a second press hides the arms as well, and a third press restores everything to normal.

MadwolfBF shared that they were able to achieve impressive performance in Hytale using an older Intel processor, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card. They used Nvidia’s performance overlay—which displays frames per second, CPU usage, and GPU usage—to monitor the results, rather than the game’s built-in counter. Because Hytale‘s recommended specs for 1080p gaming aren’t very demanding, many PC gamers with older cards like the GeForce RTX 3060 should also be able to experience smooth gameplay.

Hytale’s To-Do List Just Got Longer

Games released in early access, like Hytale, often have bugs and problems at first. Developers rely on players to report these issues and help improve the game. Recently, one player, MadwolfBF, shared a tip that some Hytale players found boosted performance, while others didn’t see much improvement. This led to questions about why the fix worked for some and not others, especially regarding issues with the game’s interface. Many players have shared MadwolfBF’s post, hoping the developers at Hypixel Studios will investigate. Currently, Hytale is working on its second early access update. This update will include a popular request from players: the ability to hide helmets and armor on their characters. A test version of Update 2 will be available in the next few days, though Hypixel Studios hasn’t announced a specific release date.

Even though the initial early access version of Hytale had some issues, Hypixel Studios confirmed that strong pre-release sales mean the game will receive ongoing support. With players generally enjoying the game so far, it will be interesting to see what new features Hypixel Studios adds during this early access period.
