Death Stranding 2 Only “30-40%” Complete Says Hideo Kojima

As a die-hard fan of Hideo Kojima’s groundbreaking work, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and apprehension upon hearing that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is only about “30%-40%” complete. With the original game taking nearly five years to develop, I’ve come to expect the unexpected from Kojima Productions.

At the Tokyo Game Show, Kojima discussed the state of the franchise and provided updates on the forthcoming sequel. To the assembled audience, he revealed that the game is not yet at a halfway point, yet seemed unfazed by this development.

A part of the task involved was re-doing all the dialogue in the game for the Japanese version, as a step towards making it accessible for local audiences. (Credit to IGN)

He then reiterated that the game will still release in 2025 as planned.

He mentioned that he didn’t disclose the release date today, but rest assured, a decision regarding the release date has been made previously. At present, he is actively preparing for its launch.

He mentioned that although they’ll disclose the date at a later time next year, certain unexpected events are hindering them from doing so prematurely.

At The Game Awards 2022, it was unveiled that Death Stranding 2 is the follow-up to the 2019 release. In this sequel, Norman Reedus reprises his role as Sam Porter Bridges, joined by Lea Seydoux as Fragile and Troy Baker as Higgs Monaghan.
