Pearl Abyss announced on social media that Crimson Desert is finished and ready for release, two months earlier than expected. This means the highly anticipated open-world game will launch on schedule without any further delays.
After nearly six years in development, Pearl Abyss is about to release Crimson Desert, an open-world fantasy RPG set in the war-torn land of Pywel. Originally conceived as part of the Black Desert universe, the game follows Kliff, a mercenary whose company is nearly destroyed by a rival faction, the Black Bears. He must then find his lost companions, get revenge, and survive the complex political landscape of Pywel. Crimson Desert promises a dark and realistic experience with exciting features like dragon-riding and intense combat.
Crimson Desert Goes Gold Ahead of Schedule
Pearl Abyss has confirmed that their highly anticipated game, Crimson Desert, will launch on March 19th as originally planned. The developers announced that the game has “gone gold” – meaning major development is complete and the game is fully playable – two months before release on PC and current-generation consoles. They shared a team photo and expressed gratitude to fans for their support. While the game is complete, the team may still address minor bugs or issues before the official launch.
The development of Crimson Desert experienced a few setbacks, and Pearl Abyss announced in August 2025 that the game would no longer be released in 2025. This latest delay moved the game’s release date to a later, unspecified time.
With Crimson Desert now finalized two months before its March 19th release, it’s unlikely to be delayed. The game runs on Pearl Abyss’ BlackSpace Engine, an improved version of the technology behind Black Desert, which was known for its beautiful environments and detailed characters. This means Crimson Desert could be a great option for RPG fans who want a visually stunning open-world experience. Currently, the game recommends at least an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card for optimal performance.
Crimson Desert’s Ambitions are as Large as its Open World
Okay, so one of the things I’m most hyped about with Crimson Desert is just how huge the world, Pywel, is supposed to be. It’s a war-torn place filled with crazy monsters. Pearl Abyss has been saying for a while now that it’s going to be bigger than both Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption 2. And considering Red Dead 2‘s map is already almost 30 square miles – way bigger than Skyrim‘s – we’re talking about a seriously massive open world here. I’m expecting a ton of exploration!
Crimson Desert is set to launch on March 19th, joining a crowded release schedule for gamers. Several other titles, including Mouse P.I. For Hire and Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, are also coming out that same day, and games like Slay The Spire 2 and Marathon are planned for early March. With so many new games available, it remains to be seen whether Crimson Desert will achieve the level of success Pearl Abyss hopes for with this open-world adventure.
