As of the recent update before the new expansion in World of Warcraft, Fury Warriors can now customize the appearance of their two-handed weapons to look like one-handed weapons, even daggers! This was a big change to how appearances work in World of Warcraft, but it wasn’t listed in the official update details.
For many World of Warcraft players, collecting cosmetic appearances – or ‘transmog’ – is the most engaging part of the game, and weapons are a key component. However, some classes face challenges with weapon transmogs because of how their specializations work. Take Fury Warriors, for instance. They have a talent called Titan’s Grip that lets them use two-handed weapons as if they were one-handed. Previously, if a player wanted to make their weapon look like a one-handed weapon, they had to choose a talent called Single-Minded Fury, which meant sacrificing some of their damage output.
World of Warcraft Fury Warrior and Dagger Transmog Changes
With the recent Midnight pre-patch, Fury Warriors can now change the appearance of their weapons more freely. A hidden addition to the patch, called Titan’s Grip: Single-Minded Fury, lets them make two-handed weapons look like one-handed weapons. This means Fury Warriors can enjoy the gameplay advantages of using two-handed weapons while still showing off popular cosmetic items like the Warglaives of Azzinoth or Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.
Image via Blizzard Daggers have been updated to be more versatile. You can now change their appearance to look like one-handed swords, fist weapons, or any other weapon type you’re skilled with. Similarly, any of those weapon types can be made to look like a dagger.
Image via Blizzard This update isn’t just for Fury Warriors – who can now make their two-handed weapons look like daggers – it’s a big win for many classes. Rogues especially benefit, as Assassination and Subtlety Rogues can now use any weapon type for appearances, and Outlaw Rogues can choose to display daggers if they like. Because daggers are a common weapon, this effectively gives the following classes a whole new range of cosmetic options:
- Druid
- Evoker
- Hunter
- Mage
- Priest
- Rogue
- Shaman
- Warlock
- Warrior
What Else Changed With Transmogging in WoW: Midnight’s Pre-Expansion Update?
Image via Blizzard The World of Warcraft: Midnight pre-patch brought several updates to the Transmog system, most notably the addition of Outfits. These allow players to instantly switch between saved gear sets without visiting a Transmog vendor, making it easy to manage different looks and weapon combinations. This is particularly helpful for classes like Mages, Warlocks, and Survival Hunters, who often switch between different weapon types to optimize their gear.
Transmogs have usually been free to apply during the Trial of Style event, which happens twice a year. If this continues, players might want to wait until the next event starts on March 20th to change their appearances and save money.
Image via Blizzard Players can also use the new Situations feature to change their outfits automatically based on what they’re doing. For example, you can set it to switch outfits when you enter water, visit the new housing areas in World of Warcraft, go into certain dungeons, or change into a Worgen or Dracthyr form. These are just a few of the many possibilities.
Many players are now hoping Blizzard will remove armor type restrictions from the transmogrification system, allowing any character to wear any cosmetic armor. The popular game Final Fantasy 14 recently made this change in an update, and it was very well received. While Blizzard is hesitant, wanting to maintain the visual identity of each class, they already allow some flexibility with items from the Trading Post, events, and cash shop – letting cloth-wearers appear in heavy armor and plate-wearers wear lighter outfits. Hopefully, World of Warcraft will eventually allow full customization so players can create the looks they want.
