During the 1.0 livestream, the developers hinted at a character named Tangtang. Currently, we only know what she looks like and that she’ll be a key figure in the two updates following the game’s release. Based on promotional images, she’s also expected to wield a Handcannon.
We’ve noticed many beta players are asking about Fjall. He was originally available as a powerful 5-star Defender in the first beta test, but he’s not currently in the game. While he might be added in a future update, he’s not available to play as right now.
How to Get Characters in Arknights Endfield
Image via Gryphline You get characters in Arknights Endfield by:
- Pulling on banners
- Progressing the main story
- Buying a character’s Employment Contract from the Bond Quota Exchange
- Taking part in events
Banners
In Arknights: Endfield, you primarily obtain new characters through a system called “Headhunting” – essentially, the game’s version of gacha banners. You earn the main currency for Headhunting, called Permits, simply by playing. You can also use a premium currency, Origeometry, to get more Permits if you choose.
Like many games of this type, there are two main ways to get new characters. You can use Basic Headhunting Permits on the permanent “Basic Headhunting” banner, or use Chartered HH Permits on limited-time banners that feature specific characters. New players also have access to a special “New Horizons Headhunting” banner for up to 40 pulls, which guarantees they’ll get one of five characters: Ardelia, Ember, Last Rite, Lifeng, or Pogranichnik.
Main Story
You unlock these characters for free by progressing with the main story of Arknights Endfield:
- Perlica
- Chen Qianyu
- Wulfgard
Bond Quota Exchange
Here, you can spend Bond Quota – a currency earned from participating in banners – to obtain a character’s Employment Contract and add them to your team. The available character changes every few weeks, so it’s worth checking regularly. You can also use these Contracts to improve characters you already own.
Events
So far, the game has only offered rewards for logging in and pre-registering. If Arknights: Endfield is like most similar games, getting free characters in the future might require more effort.
When the game releases, you can get Snowshine for free by collecting pre-registration rewards from your in-game mail. You can also get Ardelia for free simply by playing for three days.
