February 2026 is shaping up to be a huge month for video games, with a ton of exciting titles on the way. While many of the biggest releases will be sequels or remakes – like those in the Dragon Quest, Nioh, and Resident Evil series – don’t overlook the brand new games coming out. These fresh IPs have the potential to be truly fantastic, and you won’t want to miss them!
Here are 5 upcoming games all scheduled for release in February. We’ve tried to pick a variety of genres and gameplay styles so there’s something for everyone. Importantly, these are all brand new games – not sequels or remakes – although one is part of a well-known series.
Figuring out how much anticipation there is for a new game can be tricky. I usually gauge it by how excited I am personally, but I also check Steam’s list of most wishlisted upcoming games. Even if a game looks promising, though, we won’t really know if it’s good until it actually comes out.
I’ve also added a section at the end listing some games that almost made the cut, and another one specifically looking ahead to all the sequels and remakes coming out in February 2026. I wanted to make sure everything was covered!
1. Reanimal
Best New Game For Horror Fans (Who Crave A Little Nightmare)
Reanimal looks fantastic. Tarsier Studios delivered something truly unique with the first two Little Nightmares games, combining easy-to-solve puzzles and straightforward platforming with impressively detailed worlds and frightening enemies that created a horror atmosphere. The new game appears to build on that foundation, offering a more intense and genuinely terrifying experience. While Little Nightmares was unsettling, Reanimal, based on the demo and footage, seems ready to take the fear factor to the next level.
I’m really excited about Reanimal! It’s built for two-player co-op, which sounds amazing, but the developers say you can totally play the whole story by yourself if you prefer. They’re being pretty secretive about the plot, but what we do know is that you play as orphans trying to survive in this really creepy, Lovecraftian world and find a better life. It sounds like exploring off the beaten path is a big deal too – apparently, the main story isn’t the whole picture, so you’ll need to really dig around to uncover everything!
Check out Reanimal‘s demo.
2. Menace
Best New Game For Strategy RPG Fans (Who Want To Manage A Squad Of Space Marines)
Strategy games aren’t for everyone, and new releases can easily be missed if you don’t actively follow the genre. However, Menace has been gaining attention because it’s a tactical RPG made by the creators of the popular game Battle Brothers. In this single-player experience, you command a team of Marines as they journey to various planets to fight off alien enemies, using turn-based combat and managing your squad’s tactics.
Okay, so the basic idea of this game, Menace, is that you’re the captain of a warship totally stuck out in the middle of nowhere. You’re basically trying to rebuild and establish some order, fight off threats, and ultimately find a way back home. It’s not just about building stuff, though – the game is built around these linked missions called ‘operations’. A huge part of it is planning before you jump into a fight and gathering intel – seriously, that stuff really impacts how the battles play out. If you’re even a little bit into strategy or tactics games, I’d definitely suggest checking Menace out when it comes around!
Try out Menace‘s demo if you are on the fence.
3. Romeo Is a Dead Man
Best New Game For Action Fans (Who Like A Touch Of Weirdness)
Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio known for its quirky and over-the-top action games, is back with a new title! Developer Suda51 has a dedicated fanbase who appreciate the unique, B-movie style of games like No More Heroes and Killer7, even with their imperfections. Other titles like Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadow of the Damned, and Killer is Dead are also popular. Now, with Romeo is a Dead Man being their first completely new game since 2021’s No More Heroes 3, early signs suggest it could become a beloved cult hit.
This game blends fast-paced, stylish combat – think hack-and-slash meets third-person shooting – with plenty of over-the-top action. It’s set in space, following a member of a Space-Time Police force as he searches for his girlfriend. If you’re already a fan of Grasshopper games, you’ll likely love it, but action game enthusiasts should definitely keep an eye on Romeo is a Dead Man.
4. YAPYAP
Best New Game For Co-Op Games (Who Like A Little Bit Of Magic)
Every year, a handful of independently made multiplayer games become huge hits on Steam, often surpassing even major, big-budget titles. While 2026 hasn’t seen one of those breakout successes yet, YAPYAP could be the one to start the trend. Thanks to a well-received demo released in late 2025, Maison Bap’s cooperative wizard game has gained significant buzz, setting it up for a strong launch. Though the demo is no longer available, the game centers around players, as wizards, entering towers to create as much mayhem as possible before quickly escaping. Of course, these towers are filled with creatures to contend with.
The most exciting part of YAPYAP is how you cast spells – by using your voice! It’s a great concept that could be really fun, but the game needs to be good at understanding what you say. Aside from that, the game doesn’t seem to focus much on a traditional story, instead offering missions during matches. If the basic gameplay is enjoyable, this mission structure could keep players coming back for more.
5. Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown
Best New Game For, Well, Star Trek Fans (Or General Sci-Fi Fans)
In February 2026, a new game in the popular Star Trek franchise will be released. While Star Trek games come out fairly often, titles focusing on Voyager are uncommon. Across the Unknown has the potential to be the most significant game ever made based on that series. The game is being developed by Gamexcite and published by Daedalic Entertainment, who are known for successful strategy games like 2023’s Barotrauma.
Despite its ambitious title, Across the Unknown is a single-player game focused on story. You play as the captain of the U.S.S. Voyager, balancing personal challenges with the needs of the ship and making tough choices along the way. The game explores an alternate timeline and is mainly aimed at dedicated Star Trek fans, but it could also appeal to anyone looking for a sci-fi experience with in-depth ship management, exploration, and combat.
