All Arts Inflictions & Reactions in Arknights Endfield

Many games use skill combos in combat, but Arknights Endfield adds a unique layer of depth to the formula. Battles require a more deliberate approach, and while easy to pick up, the game features surprisingly complex mechanics. This guide will cover the core of Arknights Endfield’s Arts Infliction system, explaining how it works, the various elemental reactions you can trigger, and everything you’ll experience when battling with your Endfield Operator team.

How Does Elemental Combat Work in Arknights Endfield?

Battles in this game center around applying ‘Inflictions’ to enemies, which make them vulnerable to powerful elemental – and sometimes physical – attacks. Operators use their Skills to either add these Inflictions, remove them, or trigger special effects based on them.

Inflictions don’t usually do anything on their own. But, if a target already has an Infliction on them and gets hit with another, a special effect called a Reaction happens. What kind of Reaction occurs depends on both the element of the skill that triggered it and what that skill actually does.

The Endministrator’s Battle Skill deals physical damage and is considered a ‘Crush’ type attack. Because it’s a physical attack, it automatically applies the ‘Vulnerable’ status effect to enemies. When the skill hits an enemy with the Vulnerable status, the ‘Crush’ part of the attack activates, consuming the Vulnerable stacks to deal extra damage – the more Vulnerable stacks, the greater the damage.

Chen’s special attack deals physical damage, but unlike Endmin’s which causes a crushing effect, hers lifts enemies into the air. Because it’s still physical damage, it will make enemies vulnerable, just like Endmin’s attack. However, lifting attacks don’t use vulnerability; instead, they actually add more vulnerability stacks while launching enemies upwards.

Okay, so here’s how damage works in this game: basically, the first hit of any damage type doesn’t actually do anything unless the enemy is already suffering from some kind of effect. It’s like the first hit primes them to take damage from the same source – kinda weird, but you gotta build up that initial affliction first!

Arts Inflictions, Bursts & Reactions

In Arknights Endfield, ‘Arts’ refers to the four types of elemental damage: Heat, Cold, Electricity, and Nature. Unlike physical damage, Arts damage interacts with ‘Burst’ and ‘Reaction’ effects. However, these elements only become truly effective if a target is already affected by another status condition.

What are Arts Bursts?

Arts Bursts are extra damage that happens after you repeatedly apply the same elemental effect to an enemy. For example, if you inflict Heat on an enemy who already has Heat, it will trigger a Heat Burst, dealing additional Heat damage after a short delay. This applies to all elemental effects.

As a big fan, I’ve figured out that Arts Bursts are really powerful! The more damage the initial Arts hit does, the stronger the Burst will be. Plus, your Operator’s Arts Intensity stat actually boosts how much damage those Bursts deal, which is awesome!

What are Arts Reactions?

As a player, I’ve learned that when two different elemental effects, called ‘Inflictions,’ collide, it creates what’s known as an ‘Arts Reaction.’ What’s really interesting is that the reaction isn’t based on which elements are combined, but on the element of the Skill that actually caused the reaction to happen. Let me give you an example: if an enemy is already shocked with Electric, and then I hit them with Cryo, they’ll freeze solid. But if I hit them with Cryo first, and then Electric, they get Electrified instead! So, it’s all about which Skill is triggering the reaction, not just the elements themselves.

There are four Arts Reactions in Arknights Endfield:

Arknights Endfield Elemental Reactions
Reaction Triggering Element Effect
Combustion Heat Enemies take damage over time
Electrification Electric Enemies take more Arts DMG from all sources
Solidification Cryo Weak enemies are frozen solid
Corrosion Nature Reduces enemy elemental resistances over time

When an Arts Reaction is triggered, all Arts Inflictions are consumed.

Physical Damage Reactions

Regular physical attacks aren’t considered energy-based attacks, and generally don’t combine with elemental effects—except for Ice. However, different physical conditions can all trigger a ‘Vulnerable’ effect.

  • Crush consumes Vulnerable or Solidification to deal more damage
  • Breach consumes Vulnerable to increase the damage enemies take from Physical damage
  • Lift knocks Vulnerable enemies up into the air
  • Knock Down slams Vulnerable enemies into the ground

Lift and Knock Down abilities are great for managing groups of enemies, and Crush and Breach make your Operators hit harder.

These kinds of effects aren’t just for characters who deal physical damage. Operators like Ember can use both physical and Arts damage in their attacks.

Operator-Specific Interactions

Certain characters in Arknights Endfield react uniquely to how Arts and Physical attacks affect enemies. While the basic rule of applying and then consuming these effects still holds true, they also possess special abilities that work in unusual ways depending on the specific status conditions applied to opponents.

Wulfguard’s Thermite Tracers skill usually deals Heat damage with its last shot. But, if the enemy is already burning (Combustion) or shocked (Electrification), Wulfguard will use up that effect instead and fire a much stronger extra shot. There are lots of similar interactions with different characters in Endfield, so it’s important to learn what each one can do.
