Breaking: Kamala Harris Urged To Host Crypto Policy Roundtable In October

As a researcher with a background in both political science and blockchain technology, I find this development incredibly exciting. The letter sent to Kamala Harris’ campaign team by Web3 and DeFi leaders is a testament to the growing importance of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in our society.

The Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign team has received a letter from a coalition of leaders in Web3 and Decentralized Finance (DeFi), proposing a discussion. Their aim is to discuss policies that could nurture innovation within the United States blockchain and cryptocurrency sectors, ensuring inclusion for all participants.

On Tuesday, a letter was dispatched bearing the signatures of over 20 professionals within the crypto sector, including Cleve Mesidor from the National Policy Network WOC Blockchain and Olayinka Odeniran of the Black Women Blockchain Council. These signatories emphasized the necessity of policies that encourage creativity across the board and ensure that the United States remains at the forefront in the development of Web3 technology.

In their correspondence, the collective encouraged the Harris-Walz team to engage in discussions about defining the boundaries of a regulatory landscape that could foster innovation within Web3 and Decentralized Finance (DeFi).

They advocated setting guidelines aimed at safeguarding consumers while also promoting easier financial access and wealth build-up.

The leaders expressed concern that the existing policies create barriers for disadvantaged populations in accessing cryptocurrencies. They pointed out that ethnic minorities such as people of color (including African Americans, Latinos, Asians, and Indigenous communities) are pioneers in adopting cryptocurrency but continue to face exclusion from traditional financial institutions.

At the same time, they asked to be included in the policymaking process, allowing them a seat at the table during decision-making discussions.

“We want a seat at the policy table and a say in the regulatory debate,” they wrote.
