8. Far Cry 6
The most recent installment in the Far Cry series seems to be the least impressive yet, as critics and players alike have noted. Despite its initial appeal due to its innovative and ambitious aspects, and the attractive visuals, it lacked depth and was soon forgotten. Unfortunately, even the exceptional acting skills of Giancarlo Esposito couldn’t prevent this game from receiving poor reviews on Metacritic.
7. Far Cry: New Dawn
New Dawn, which is essentially a separate title following Far Cry 5, served as a standalone extension, showcasing the first post-apocalyptic setting in the Far Cry series. 5. Far Cry: Primal
Surprisingly, despite being technically a spin-off, Primal stands out as one of the most creatively groundbreaking titles in the Far Cry series. Unlike its predecessors, it offered a prehistoric setting, immersing players in the Stone Age. Ubisoft went above and beyond with this game, developing an exclusive language, cultures, and tribes for the experience. This was a welcome shift, but the gameplay eventually felt repetitive.

Among Far Cry series, Far Cry 3 stands out as a fan favorite due to its expansive open-world setting, compelling narrative, and iconic characters that have left an indelible mark on the gaming world. For example, the game’s main antagonist, Vaas, remains highly acclaimed even today – with his portrayer garnering recognition in various high-profile projects across both film and video games.
In Far Cry 3, players encountered fresh and engaging gameplay elements and environments that were delightful to traverse. The experience felt less like a chore and more like an enjoyable battle. It offered enough depth to fully engage without becoming overly monotonous – aside from the pesky towers.
That’s why, out of all Far Cry games, Far Cry 3 takes the top spot.
