How to Use the Stethoscope in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

In the game Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, the Stethoscope helps players identify illness by checking for unusual signs and listening to survivors’ lungs. It’s a bit more complex than some of the other tools, and players need to research two additional symptoms in the Laboratory to get the most out of it, as only one symptom is initially known.

People who have survived a critical event and are coughing are at higher risk of lung issues. It’s important to carefully check their lungs using a stethoscope.

Looking For Black Zones

When using the stethoscope, start by checking for dark areas on the lungs. If these areas seem to disappear as you examine them, it usually means that part of the lung is healthy. Focus solely on identifying these dark zones during your visual check.

Dark areas might show up on a survivor’s back, so check all around them carefully to avoid missing anything.

Even if you don’t find any black zones initially, keep searching carefully. If any black areas still show up after your examination, it indicates a potential health issue. However, if all black zones clear up, it suggests the person’s lungs are likely healthy.

Listening To Black Zones & Looking For High Frequencies

When you find a dark area that stays on your screen, you’ll need to investigate it closely. You’ll see strong signals on your Stethoscope, but the most important hint is to listen carefully to the survivor’s breathing while your cursor is over these areas.

Okay, so when a survivor coughs or makes a sound, I need to pay attention! First, I check what the game tells me, then I really listen to the symptom chart to compare. At the start, I only know about ‘Sickly Breath’, so if it sounds like that, I pick that option. But if I hear something new, I gotta send them to the lab – hopefully, we can figure out what’s wrong with their lungs and add it to the chart!

Stethoscope Upgrades In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

You can improve tools in the Quarantine Zone using Research Points. The Stethoscope, in particular, has three upgrades available, and one of them significantly simplifies its use.

Zone Level Upgrade Description Research Points
III Stethoscope: Color Indicator Adds a color filter for normal, nonspecific, and infected sounds. 100 RP
III Stethoscope: Amplified Sensors Tuned sensors for enhanced audio clarity and enlarged black zones. 100 RP
V Stethoscope: Smart Filter Removes irrelevant black zones. 150 RP

The most helpful feature, and what you should focus on first, is the Color Indicator. Once you have it, you don’t need to rely on sound as much. You can simply hover over dark areas and check the color to find what you’re looking for.

  • Green (Low Frequency): Healthy
  • Green (High Frequency): Sick
  • Yellowish Green: Sick or Infected
  • Red: Infected

The Smart Filter is a helpful feature because it only highlights important areas, saving you time. But, you’ll need to progress further in the game before you can use it.

All Stethoscope Symptoms In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

Sickness Undetermined Infected
Sickly Breath Nonspecific Respiration Infected Breath

When I first started playing, I only noticed the Sickly Breath symptom, but there are actually three in total to discover. The tricky thing is, the black zones look exactly the same no matter which symptom is active, so you really have to rely on your ears and get that Color Indicator upgrade – it’s a lifesaver!

Sickly Breath – Sickness

A Sickly Breath will cause a low wheezing sound and will display bright green with the color upgrade.

Nonspecific Respiration – Sickness Or Infection

Nonspecific respiratory symptoms cause wheezing when breathing in, but breathing out is quiet.

It can be difficult to tell the difference between Nonspecific Respiration and Sickly Breath. To help, get the Color Indicator upgrade, and watch for it to turn a more yellowish-green color.

Infected Breath – Infected

A deep growl, similar to a lion’s, will play. When upgraded, the Stethoscope will glow red, letting you know a survivor is infected.
