When Does ‘Uptober’ Really Start? Bitcoin Price History Reveals All

As a seasoned researcher with over two decades of experience in the dynamic world of finance and technology, I’ve seen my fair share of market volatility and unexpected turns. The October 2024 crypto market downturn initially seemed disheartening, but it didn’t take me long to remember that history often repeats itself – albeit with a twist or two.

Initially, there was much optimism among crypto investors about October. However, instead of living up to expectations, October turned out to be a month of unforeseen letdowns. Bitcoin (BTC) plummeted by 3.98% right at the start, and the overall market value of altcoins decreased significantly by $41.67 billion.

Looking back, it’s clear that these events were influenced by the resurgence of geopolitical conflicts and a familiar pattern: when a mass audience eagerly awaits something, their expectations are often flipped in an unexpectedly drastic manner.

Nonetheless, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies could potentially exhibit upward trends in October, according to an analysis by Bitcoin expert Timothy Peterson. His prediction indicates that the anticipated “Uptober” may not commence before October 19.

Most of “Uptober” doesn’t start until after the 19th.
Be patient.

Historical trends indicate that Bitcoin has generally performed positively in October since 2018, with an average increase of more than 14% and a typical gain of approximately 13%. Therefore, it’s reasonable to expect that this year’s October might also continue the trend of delivering positive returns. Every month ending with a profit in the past has traditionally started on an upward trajectory.

Therefore, it’s possible that there could be some letdown since October 2024 didn’t meet the high expectations for “Uptober” initially. However, if the average over its 11-year history as a publicly traded entity is any reliable sign, it might be wise to wait at least another fortnight before completely giving up on it.
