As a huge wrestling fan, I was so excited to hear WWE announce on SmackDown that the next WWE 2K game, 2K26, is going to be all about the Attitude Era! Seriously, the cover is packed with legends – Steve Austin, The Rock, DX, The Undertaker, and a ton of other superstars who made the late 90s and early 2000s so amazing. It’s going to be awesome!
Because this is a limited, special edition of the game, the cover art for the regular version hasn’t been revealed yet. You’ll be able to pre-order the game starting January 30th, just one week from now.
The era that changed everything…
No rules. No filter. No apologies. #WWE2K26

More Details on What’s New in WWE 2K26
According to TopMob, CM Punk will be the main focus of this year’s 2K Showcase. Players will be able to experience key moments from his career and even play fantasy matches based on what could have happened if he hadn’t left WWE in 2014.
TopMob also announced that WWE 2K26 will feature new match types. There will be one brand new mode, alongside three returning favorites. All of these matches are based on the exciting and over-the-top style of the WWE Attitude Era.
The Inferno Match is a wrestling match where the goal is to throw your opponent into the flames surrounding the ring. It first appeared in the 2009 edition of the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw video game, but hasn’t been featured in a game for over ten years, last appearing in WWE 2K14.
WWE Games is bringing back ‘I Quit’ matches, a brutal type of contest last featured in WWE 2K14. In these matches, the goal is to force your opponent to verbally submit by saying “I Quit” into a microphone. This match type originally appeared in WWF SmackDown! 2 in 2000 and has been taken out of the games a few times since then.
The 3 Stages of Hell match is back, having last appeared in a video game in 2005 with WWE SmackDown vs. Raw. This match type, which debuted in WWF SmackDown!: Just Bring It in 2001, is a best two out of three falls match where each fall has different rules.
The latest rumor suggests a new match type called the Dumpster Match. To win, a wrestler has to put their opponent inside a dumpster and shut the lid.
The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s planned for all current PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC through Steam. We’ll share the newest information about WWE 2K26 as soon as it’s available.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the WWE 2K26 cover featuring wrestling legends! Are you planning on buying the game? Share your opinions and join the discussion on our Discord server. Plus, be sure to subscribe to our weekly newsletter for more updates.
