CS2 ‘The Armory’ Update Adds Gun Charms and Collections But Sticks Them Behind a ‘Battle Pass Wall’

CS2 ‘The Armory’ Update Adds Gun Charms and Collections But Sticks Them Behind a ‘Battle Pass Wall’

As a dedicated Counter-Strike 2 fan with countless hours under my belt, I must confess, I was initially thrilled when Valve finally broke their silence and released an update. However, upon delving into the new content, ‘The Armory’, I find myself disheartened and slightly frustrated.

Enthusiasts of Counter-Strike 2, take heart – Valve has at last released an update following several weeks of quietude. However, Counter-Strike 2 fans, prepare for dismay! The update primarily focuses on a battle pass system which, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to bring much depth to the game and has already sparked criticism from the CS2 community.

‘The Armory’ introduces over 100 new items, numerous weapon finishes, fresh gun trinkets, and an exciting fresh case, yet these elements are only accessible through a battle pass system which necessitates considerable effort to unlock.

What is The Armory in CS2?

The Armory is where you’ll find fresh content for Counter-Strike 2, recently launched by Valve as part of a significant update on October 3rd. However, to access this content, you’ll need the ‘Armory Pass’ system, which costs $16 per pass. You have the option to buy up to five Armory Passes at once to accelerate your progress and reap more benefits.

As a gamer, when I’ve got my hands on an Armory Pass (or even five!), I rack up those sweet Armory Credits. These credits are the key to snagging the one-of-a-kind loot hidden within The Armory.

In The Armory, items will be regularly exchanged, and certain coveted items like the Heat Treated Desert Eagle, which enthusiasts eagerly anticipate, are temporary rewards. This means you’ll need to work diligently and efficiently to acquire them. However, it’s not an easy task, as many have voiced their concerns about the lengthy process required to earn sufficient credits for desirable items.

On Reddit, someone tried out the Armory Pass and noted that one pass equates to approximately a fourth of a credit for a 10-minute deathmatch game, while a collection skin costs four credits.

There are more concerns, though.

The latest Gun Charm setup is quite appealing as it enables users to place charms anywhere along the edge of their firearm. However, there’s a fee of $0.99 associated with either removing these charms or replacing them with different ones.

As a diehard fan, I’ve gotta say, The Armory update is chock-full of content, but it’s primarily cosmetic upgrades. There are some quirky weapon charms in the shape of sausages and exclusive skins that seem to be out of reach due to being locked behind a tough grind. However, Valve has also thrown in new stickers, polished animations, and made some quality-of-life improvements to address concerns raised by the community.
