I’m so hyped for Resident Evil Requiem to come out on February 27th! And now, rumors are flying around about potential DLC, which is getting everyone even more excited. The biggest buzz is about Alyssa Ashcroft, the main character from Resident Evil Outbreak, possibly being a playable character. It makes so much sense, since Requiem features her daughter, Grace, as one of the leads! The idea of being able to play as Grace’s mom has the community absolutely buzzing – it would be amazing to see that happen!
When Grace Ashcroft was introduced in Resident Evil Requiem, fans quickly noticed her connection to Alyssa Ashcroft from the earlier game, Outbreak. Alyssa is a beloved but often overlooked character in the Resident Evil series. She was a journalist who survived the Raccoon City outbreak and exposed the shady practices of the Umbrella Corporation. Sadly, she was killed while investigating the Wrenwood Hotel, inspiring her daughter, Grace, to become an FBI technical analyst. Now that Grace is heading to Raccoon City for her own dangerous mission, there’s a lot of excitement about the possibility of Alyssa returning as a playable character.
Will Resident Evil Requiem Be Getting DLC?
Well-known Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has shared rumors about a potential DLC for Resident Evil Requiem starring the character Alyssa. While trailers have shown Alyssa alongside Grace, Capcom has only confirmed Grace and Leon as playable characters. It’s possible Alyssa could appear in a playable flashback sequence, but this is just speculation. Fans are hopeful these rumors are true, as previous Resident Evil games like 7 and Village received DLC after their initial release. Dusk Golem has also hinted at other special gameplay features coming to Resident Evil Requiem.
Image via Capcom As a big fan of Resident Evil Requiem, I always take leaks with a grain of salt. Things change so much during development, and information gets twisted as it passes around, so even reliable sources can be wrong eventually. Still, it makes a lot of sense to me if any DLC focuses on Alyssa Ashcroft. It would be amazing to learn more about her story and how it connects to Grace and the overall plot – really fleshing out the prequel lore. But… other fans think they’ve spotted a completely new character hidden in the latest gameplay trailer, which is super exciting and could mean the DLC goes in a totally different direction! It’s all just speculation right now, but it’s fun to think about.
Capcom hasn’t announced any plans for downloadable content (DLC) for Requiem, but fans would likely enjoy seeing characters like Alyssa become playable, or even the introduction of new faces to the Resident Evil series. With returning favorites like Leon and the reveal of new locations, the latest Resident Evil game, Requiem, is looking promising. Resident Evil Requiem will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 27th.
