PC Gamers Have Until January 27 to Claim Free Game

The game Hangman Earth is now available for free on PC thanks to a new promotion on the Microsoft Store. PC players have until January 27th to download it as part of the current sale.

Hangman Earth is a digital take on the classic word-guessing game Hangman. It’s created by Earth of Games, a small independent game studio that makes simple, fun games for computers, consoles, and phones.

You can currently get the game Hangman Earth for free from the Microsoft Store. It’s 100% off, which means a $3.99 savings – its usual price! While Hangman Earth has been discounted before since its release in June 2025, this is the first time it’s been given away for free. PC gamers have until next Tuesday, January 27th, to claim the free offer.

The complete discount on Hangman Earth is also valid for the game on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Although both the console and PC versions are sold through the same store, it doesn’t support cross-progression – meaning you can’t continue your progress between platforms. Also, the game doesn’t award Xbox Achievements, so it won’t contribute to your Gamerscore.

Hangman Earth Is a Simple Casual Game with an Accessible Hint System

Even for a relatively unknown game on the Microsoft Store, Hangman Earth doesn’t have much of an online presence. However, it’s easy to pick up and play, with quick rounds of word guessing and no waiting time between attempts. It’s a straightforward version of Hangman – you get six tries to guess the word before losing. What sets it apart is a helpful hint system: a golden question mark button reveals one letter of the word if you get stuck.

Game Rant’s testing shows that the hints in Hangman Earth are completely random. Because of this, it’s often better to try guessing a few common letters first, especially vowels, before using a hint when you’re stuck. Vowels are good starting points since there are fewer of them. You only get one hint per round, and there’s no benefit or penalty for using it. Ultimately, Hangman Earth is a relaxed and easy way to improve your English vocabulary.

We’ve tested it and can confirm that Hangman Earth runs smoothly on both Windows 10 and 11. The game is designed to be played with touchscreens and includes an on-screen keyboard. However, it doesn’t currently support physical keyboards, meaning you’ll need to use the on-screen keyboard with a mouse or controller when playing on a desktop computer. At under 26 MB, Hangman Earth is a very small game to download and install.

PC gamers can now get Rustler – Grand Theft Horse for free from the Epic Games Store. The game is inspired by classic top-down open-world games like the early Grand Theft Auto titles, but with a medieval setting. You can claim Rustler until January 29th, after which it will be replaced by a free copy of Definitely Not Fried Chicken.
