Dragon Ball Genkidama Matsuri has announced a remake of Dragon Ball Super, starting with a new adaptation of the Battle of Gods saga. The remake, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, is scheduled to release in Fall 2026. Akio Iyoku, President of Capsule Corporation, says the new anime will be an improved and enhanced version of the original Dragon Ball Super story arc.
The first arc of Dragon Ball Super, the Beerus Saga, had some problems with animation and felt rushed. The new anime, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, aims to fix those issues with updated visuals similar to those in Dragon Ball Super: Broly. This remake will closely follow Akira Toriyama’s initial plans for Battle of Gods and is intended to set the stage for future remakes of the remaining Dragon Ball Super arcs.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is the First Official Dragon Ball Anime Remake
A new Dragon Ball Super anime is planned to premiere on Fuji TV in Fall 2026. It will begin by reimagining Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods with an expanded storyline based on Akira Toriyama’s original concept. Following this, the series is expected to cover the Resurrection F arc, the Universe 6 Tournament, the Goku Black Saga, the Universe Survival Saga, and Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Finally, it will adapt the Moro Saga from Toyotarou’s Dragon Ball Super manga, leading into the Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime.
The Dragon Ball Super Remake’s Art Direction is Taking Cues From Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Though not a perfect match for the visual style of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus clearly draws inspiration from what many fans consider the best Dragon Ball movie. The trailer for the Dragon Ball Super remake highlights key scenes from Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, and the improvement in animation quality compared to the early episodes of Dragon Ball Super is immediately noticeable. The characters look fantastic, the action is incredibly smooth, and the overall style feels directly influenced by the fast-paced, exciting action of DBS: Broly.
The new trailer hints at an epic showdown between Super Saiyan God Goku and Beerus, promising a much-improved experience compared to both Battle of Gods and the Dragon Ball Super series. We’ll see the God Ritual, Goku’s initial fight with Beerus, and Vegeta’s furious Super Saiyan 2 power-up after Beerus slaps Bulma. While the trailer doesn’t appear to include the SSJ3 Vegeta and SSJ4 Goku from Dragon Ball DAIMA, it’s possible those elements are being saved as surprises. Regardless, Dragon Ball fans have a lot to look forward to when Dragon Ball Super makes its official return in Fall 2026.
