5 Reasons Why Naruto Must Stay Sealed in Boruto For Now

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.

As a long-time fan, I have to admit I’m a little frustrated with where the Boruto series is going. It’s been over 30 chapters now that Naruto has been sealed away! I get the idea of letting Boruto and the new generation take the lead, and it’s clear the creators, Kishimoto and Ikemoto, are really committed to that, saving Naruto’s full return for what looks like the very end of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. It’s just tough seeing such an iconic character sidelined for so long, even if it is to build up the next generation of ninja.

As a fan of Boruto, I, like many others, would love to see Naruto back in action right away. But honestly, bringing him back now would likely erase a lot of the story development the series has been building towards. It’s not that I agree with Kawaki’s decision to seal Naruto, but it does show the show is serious about moving the story forward without relying on Naruto as a constant safety net. Here’s what I’ve gathered about why keeping Naruto sealed is important, at least for the time being.

Naruto Would Die Fighting Jura

Naruto Is More Vulnerable Than Ever

Throughout most of the Naruto series, Naruto Uzumaki was consistently portrayed as the main hero. He repeatedly saved Konoha and protected the ninja world, exceeding the accomplishments of any other ninja and becoming its last hope. Whenever things looked bleak, Naruto always stepped up, using his strength, kindness, and ninja skills to change the situation.

If Naruto escaped from the Daikokuten dimension, he’d immediately try to defeat Jura, even if it meant risking his own life. He’s determined to protect Konoha, his loved ones, and the ninja world, and wouldn’t hold back. Unless he could somehow talk Jura down, Naruto would have to fight at full strength, but he’d likely lose against an opponent as powerful as Jura.

Naruto Would Limit Boruto and Himawari’s Growth

Naruto Would Not Allow Boruto and Himawari to Risk Their Lives

Following Naruto’s disappearance, Boruto and Himawari both matured significantly. The story quickly showed them becoming capable ninja, able to hold their own against powerful enemies. Boruto mastered techniques like the Rasengan Uzuhiko and Flying Raijin, while Himawari discovered she could harness the power of the Nine-Tails chakra within her.

If Naruto were present, he wouldn’t let Boruto and Himawari face dangers that could seriously harm them. He’d likely step in to protect them before they had to fight powerful enemies like Jura or any of the Shinju clones, taking the force of the attacks himself – just like he did against Momoshiki. While this would keep them safe, it would also likely hinder their development and ability to grow stronger on their own.

Boruto vs. Kawaki Would Not Happen

Naruto Would Stop Boruto vs. Kawaki Before It Begins

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Boruto series is building towards a final battle between Boruto and Kawaki. The very first chapter of the manga hinted at the rivalry between the two, which will ultimately lead to a major showdown. Just as Naruto Shippuden ended with the fight between Naruto and Sasuke, Boruto seems to be heading towards an epic clash between Boruto and Kawaki, potentially set in a destroyed Konoha.

The first chapter of Boruto confirms that Naruto is currently still sealed away, meaning he won’t be able to help. If the author decides to unexpectedly bring Naruto back, the planned fight between Boruto and Kawaki likely won’t happen. Naruto would step in to stop his children from fighting and prevent any lasting damage.

Naruto Would Carry the Boruto Series Again

Naruto Would Overshadow the Next Generation

A big reason why fans enjoy Boruto is its connection to Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto’s inspiring story of overcoming hardship really struck a chord with viewers and continues to be popular, even though his role in Boruto is diminished. Many people are watching Boruto specifically because Naruto is still involved, despite the changes to his character.

I have a feeling that if Naruto were to come back in the series, he’d quickly become the center of attention again. It’s likely all the focus would shift to him, leaving Boruto, Kawaki, the original characters, and the new generation of shinobi in the shadows – they’re already struggling to get noticed by fans and the artist, Ikemoto. Instead of being excited about what Boruto does next, people would probably end up talking about Naruto and how strong he’s become, almost as if he were still the main character.

Naruto Deserves More Than a Rushed Return

Naruto Deserves a Meaningful Comeback

Bringing Naruto back to Boruto shouldn’t be done quickly, or it would lose its emotional weight. Simply giving fans what they want doesn’t automatically make the story better. While having Naruto present would be fun, it would undermine the reason he’s been away in the first place, and the eventual impact wouldn’t be satisfying.

Essentially, if Naruto were permanently removed from the picture, it would take away the core idea of Boruto and his generation overcoming obstacles independently. Readers wouldn’t expect Naruto to always step in and fix things, allowing the new characters to truly grow through their own struggles and face conflicts where the outcome isn’t certain.
