Every Microsoft Game Announced on Xbox and PC in 2026

When it came to video games, 2025 was a pretty good year for Xbox.

The Ninja Gaiden series made a comeback with both Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Ninja Gaiden 4. Obsidian Entertainment launched two new titles: The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed. The popular Gears of War franchise was also revived, and several Xbox-exclusive games were surprisingly released on PlayStation 5.

Even more exciting games are coming later this year. Let’s take a look at what Xbox has planned. Here’s a list of all the Microsoft games currently confirmed for release on Xbox and PC in 2026.

This list focuses on new games and won’t include titles already available on Xbox that are now being released on PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch 2.

9. Towerborne

Release Date: February 26th, 2026

Stoic, the studio behind the popular Banner Saga games, is launching a new game – their first in eight years.

Towerborne is an action RPG with beat ’em up elements, now available as a full purchase for $24.95 after being in development and available to players as an Early Access title for over a year. It was initially intended to be a free-to-play game.

Early reactions to the game are mostly good, particularly regarding how it plays. The beat ’em up style has been making a comeback with recent hits like Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and this game looks like it could be another success. Towerborne will be available on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5 at the same time.

8. Forza Horizon 6

Release Date: May 19th, 2026

It’s amazing to think Forza Horizon 5 has already been out for five years! While PlayStation 5 owners got it a bit later, just last year, the fact remains. The Horizon games have really surpassed the Motorsport titles in terms of popularity and quality within the Forza franchise.

It’s no surprise that excitement is building for Forza Horizon 6, as the game is heading to Japan. Following the popular success of Forza Horizon 5, which featured an expansive Mexico map, players are eager to experience what an open-world Japan will offer.

With the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 being well-received and showing the game is still fun to play, Forza Horizon 6 looks set to be another hugely successful racing game. It’s currently planned to launch on PC and Xbox in May 2026, but a release date for the PS5 version hasn’t been announced yet.

7. Kiln

Release Date: Spring 2026

A standout announcement from this year’s Xbox Developer Direct was Kiln, a new game created by Double Fine Productions, the studio led by Tim Schafer.

Kiln is a delightfully quirky game, typical of Double Fine’s style. They’ve taken the unusual idea of pottery and made it surprisingly engaging. It’s hard to imagine another developer who could make a game about pottery sound exciting! And it’s not just pottery – Kiln is actually an online, multiplayer game where you battle others with your creations – a “pottery party brawler,” as they call it.

I’m a huge fan of Double Fine – they consistently come up with really original and fun ideas, like with Gang Beasts. So, Kiln is definitely one of the multiplayer games I’m most excited about coming out in 2026!

6. Fable

Release Date: Autumn 2026

Even though I’m really excited about Forza Horizon 6, I’m even more looking forward to the new Fable game coming from Playground Games in 2026.

Originally revealed in 2020, the new Fable game revives a beloved series that was once a cornerstone of Xbox. This is somewhat surprising given Xbox’s recent shift away from exclusive games, but the potential is clear. At its best, Fable is a fantastic action role-playing game. While the first game didn’t quite meet expectations, it was still a good Xbox RPG, and Fable 2 improved on the formula.

Honestly, it’s such a relief that Peter Monyleux and his big talk are no longer in charge. I’ve been following Playground Games for a while now, and I know how talented they are. I’m seriously excited to see what they bring to the table with this new installment!

5. Gears of War: E-Day

Release Date: 2026

The popular Gears of War series returned in 2025 with a remastered version of the first game, titled Gears of War: Reloaded.

Gears of War remains a really fun game, and fans will be happy to hear a prequel is coming out later this year. Called Gears of War: E-Day, it’s a story set 14 years before the first game, showing us what happened when Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago first fought the Locust Horde on Emergence Day – the day the Locust attacked the world of Sera.

E-Day is a pivotal event in the Gears of War story, and it’s great to finally experience the events that built the world we know. While Gears 5 left us with some unanswered questions, it’s good to see the Gears of War series continuing on Xbox.

4. Halo: Campaign Evolved

Release Date: 2026

Fable and Gears of War aren’t the only major Xbox franchises with new games in 2026.

While the Halo franchise isn’t as dominant as it once was, the original Halo: Combat Evolved remains a classic first-person shooter. This new version isn’t just a simple update like the 2011 Anniversary edition; it’s a complete rebuild of the original game. Players can expect redesigned levels, a revised mission structure, and abilities from later Halo games added to the campaign.

In addition to releasing on Xbox and PC in 2026, it will also be coming to the PlayStation 5.

3. Grounded 2

Release Date: TBA

Obsidian Entertainment has been a valuable partner to Xbox and Microsoft, largely because they can successfully work on multiple games at the same time.

Alongside Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, the studio released an early version of Grounded 2. This sequel to the popular survival game continues the unique premise of being shrunk down to insect size and trying to survive in an ordinary backyard.

Grounded 2 aims to be bigger and better than the original, offering a larger game world, a more compelling story, and plenty of new things to explore and do. The game is currently available in Early Access, and while a full release is possible in 2026, it’s likely to take a while – the first Grounded spent two years in Early Access.

2. Clockwork Revolution

Release Date: TBA

Now we’re looking at Xbox games planned for 2026 that don’t have confirmed release dates yet. Of these, the game most likely to come out this year is Clockwork Revolution, developed by inXile Entertainment.

Clockwork Revolution is best described as a Steampunk-inspired take on BioShock, and that’s a good thing! I’m really excited about this game – especially since it was first announced back in 2023 – and hope we get to see more of it soon.

A gameplay trailer for Clockrock Revolution was shown in June 2025 at the Xbox Games Showcase, suggesting the game might be released in 2026.

1. State of Decay 3

Release Date: TBA

State of Decay 3 was originally revealed in 2020 with a dramatic trailer. We haven’t heard much about it since, likely because the announcement came very early in the development process, before full production had begun.

Okay, so we know the game is built on Unreal Engine 5, which is awesome! But honestly, beyond that, details are super scarce right now. It’s still a big question mark what the game actually is.

While the game wasn’t affected by the recent layoffs at Microsoft and Xbox, it’s worrying that we haven’t seen or heard anything about it for five years. It’s possible we might still get a surprise release this year, though.
