This post contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen.
The fourth episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 premiered on January 22, 2025, and sparked a divided reaction among viewers. While it received a high score of 9.8 on IMDb, suggesting many fans enjoyed it, the episode was not well-received by most viewers in Japan.
Critics felt the episode relied too heavily on action sequences. While its overall quality is a separate discussion, it definitively showed that Maki Zenin is now stronger than Toji Fushiguro.
Maki Zenin Is As Strong As Toji Fushiguro
Maki Is Equal To Toji Fushiguro In Terms Of Strength
In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, Episode 4, Maki went back to her clan’s headquarters to search for weapons in their storage. She’d gotten the keys from Megumi Fushiguro, who had been named the new head of the Zenin family by Naobito. This meant she had permission to enter and find something useful for the Culling Game.
When she reached the vault, she found her father, Ogi, already inside. He had set a trap, bringing both of his daughters there with the intention of killing them. Like many men in the Zenin clan, Ogi hated women and didn’t see any worth in his daughters. He saw them as disappointments who only brought him shame. Inside, she discovered Mai was seriously injured. Maki attempted to defend herself, but her father overpowered her.
Both sisters were gravely wounded, lying in their own blood, when Mai spoke to Maki about the difficulties of being twins in the world of Jujutsu sorcery. In a final act, Mai gave up her own life and absorbed all of Maki’s cursed energy. This transfer dramatically strengthened Maki’s body, making her as physically resilient as Toji Fushiguro.
Is Maki Really Stronger Than Toji Fushiguro?
- Currently, Maki is as strong as Toji
- She is physically stronger than most JJK characters
After seeing Toji’s incredible strength in the Hidden Inventory arc, some fans might not believe Maki could compete with him. However, Maki is actually just as powerful, and possibly even more so. She proved this by defeating hundreds of highly skilled Zenin clan members, including both Ogi and Naoya Zenin. While Naoya had the upper hand for a short time, Maki quickly learned his fighting style and decisively won the battle.
Maki has become significantly stronger thanks to a recent power boost. She was born with a natural talent for physical ability, but couldn’t fully unlock it for most of her life. After Mai removed the cursed energy from her body, Maki was finally able to access her full potential. Viewers will get to witness Maki’s enhanced strength as she faces new challenges in the Culling Game.
Maki Will Be A Major Asset In The Culling Game
Maki Will Be Invaluable In The Culling Game
The upcoming Culling Game is expected to be incredibly brutal, with many ruthless players willing to do anything to win, resulting in a massive loss of life. Itadori Yuji and his allies must prevent the game from starting, but they need to become much stronger to succeed. That’s why Maki gaining more power is so crucial.
Maki’s power will be crucial in helping Yuji overcome the challenges ahead, bringing him closer to freeing Gojo Satoru from the Prison Realm and ending the Culling Game. While Yuji is strong, he can’t handle everything alone and needs support from friends like Maki Zenin. He’ll also rely heavily on the help of his seniors, Yuta Okkotsu and Kinji Hakari, both of whom have incredibly powerful abilities and are ready to use them against the strong opponents in the Culling Game.
