Until Dawn Remake’s Leaked Ending Hints at Possible Sequel

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the leak of Until Dawn Remake’s ending has left me both intrigued and a tad frustrated. Having played the original until the wee hours of the morning, I was prepared to bid adieu to poor Josh one way or another. The new ending, however, presents an interesting twist that opens up possibilities for a sequel.

The remake of Until Dawn won’t be available until October 4, 2024, but surprisingly, just one day prior to its launch, details about the game’s ending have been leaked, suggesting that a sequel might be on the horizon.

According to Eurogamer’s report on r/untildawn, the creators of Until Dawn Remake have introduced a fresh ending that hints at a possible sequel. Unlike the original game, which only allowed players to end up with either Josh dying or becoming a Wendigo, this remake features an entirely new outcome – Josh living through the ordeal.

In the closing moments of the Until Dawn Remake, following the credits, Dr. Hill speaks to Josh, saying, “However, this game has led you to confront one of your deepest anxieties, Josh – solitude. I hope for your benefit, Josh, that you can find a path toward atonement.” The scene concludes with Josh revealing a large scar on his forehead as Dr. Hill expresses her hopes.

In the post-credits scene of Until Dawn’s remake, players witness Sam’s struggle with PTSD several years after the game’s storyline. The sequence opens with Sam asleep, and an alarm jolting her awake. Upon getting up to silence the alarm, she discovers her arm is wounded and someone is knocking at her door. The scene concludes enigmatically as a voice whispers her name.

A reliable insider has also weighed in on Until Dawn’s sequel. Shpeshal Nick has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to provide more information about the game. According to him, Firesprite will be developing the upcoming title.
