Antstream Arcade Has Round Of Layoffs

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of empathy for those who are affected by the recent layoffs at Antstream Arcade. The games industry has always been unpredictable, and times like these serve as stark reminders that even the most captivating virtual worlds can crumble in the face of harsh realities.

The game streaming service Antstream Arcade has announced plans for a series of job reductions, making it the latest company in the field to take such action.

According to a statement given to GamesIndustry.biz, the company attributes the recent layoffs to a particularly tough time in the gaming sector and a change in their internal strategies.

The video game sector is going through a tough phase right now, as indicated by the following statement. Since our company has chosen to prioritize certain internal aspects, we’ve unfortunately had to let go of a few team members from Antstream Arcade due to a hard decision-making process.

This wasn’t a hasty choice; we’re committed to assisting those impacted every step of the way. Rest assured, Antstream Arcade continues to strive for excellence in providing an exceptional gaming experience for our valued players.

Diane Hutchinson shared on LinkedIn that she was informed her position as PR and Communications Manager at Antstream is no longer needed. She’s had a wonderful experience working there and wants to thank everyone who made her feel welcome during her tenure.

In September, the Antstream Arcade platform was made available on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This service offers subscribers access to more than 1,300 timeless video games.

At this point, it’s still uncertain exactly how many workers will be impacted by the layoffs. However, so far, around 13,000 positions have been eliminated in approximately 150 gaming companies throughout the year 2024.
