My Hero Academia: The Villain Factory, Explained

Key Takeaways

  • The Villain Factory mass-produces Trigger-induced villains for experimentation by All For One.
  • Instant Villains are created through various methods with the aim to collect data on enhanced quirks.
  • Next-Level Villains are larger and more powerful bioengineered villains that cannot revert to their previous form.

As a seasoned gamer and avid follower of the My Hero Academia universe, I’ve been intrigued by the darker side of the story presented in Vigilantes. The Villain Factory, a name that sends chills down my spine, is not just an ordinary organization. It’s a factory producing chaos, destruction, and villains, all under the watchful eye of the enigmatic All For One.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my alarm over the havoc wreaked by The Villain Factory in Naruhata. It seems like the city is under siege, with villains, high on the illegal Trigger drug, causing mayhem and destruction at every turn. What was once just a part of everyday life has now evolved into something far more sinister, with All For One orchestrating this chaos from the shadows.

In the animated series “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes”, the mass-produced minions from the Villain Factory were test subjects designed to aid All For One and Dr. Garaki, who ultimately developed the now-famous bioengineered villains known as Nomu. If you’re interested in uncovering the function of the Villain Factory within this context, give it a watch!

What is the Villain Factory?

Mass-produced and Trigger-Induced Villains Are Created For the Sole Purpose of Experimentation

My Hero Academia: The Villain Factory, Explained

In simpler terms, “The Villain Factory” is what we call the criminal network made up of various individuals, some of whom are no longer part of it due to death, departure, or imprisonment for their actions within the group. Members like All For One, Dr. Garaki, Number 6 (Rokuro Nomura), Kugitsu Mario, Hina, Hachisuka Kuin (who took over Tamao Oguro’s body), and Haneyama Kazuho were all part of this organization at some point.

The reason The Villain’s Den is called so is because it’s involved in the large-scale creation of villains using a substance known as the Trigger. The Villain’s Den would disseminate this substance in three different methods. Initially, either established villains or those with a propensity towards villainy could purchase the drug from an Agent linked to the Villain’s Den. This Agent would subsequently pass the drug on to villains who were willing to take it.

Following the introduction of Hachisuka Kuin as a prominent antagonist, she employs her Bee Quirk to administer a drug into various heteromorphic villains, instantly transforming them into Instant Villains. She carries out this action carelessly, injecting villains with intriguing Quirks and gathering data after the villain has caused chaos and been subdued by Heroes.

As a gamer, I’d say: Instead of the traditional injection, they’ve reworked the serum so it can be swallowed now. But since the dosage is lower, the side effect for these Instant Villains is a mildly unstable form of their special ability.

What is the Purpose of the Villain Factory?

All For One’s Experiments Have Been a Success With the Creation of Nomu

My Hero Academia: The Villain Factory, Explained

In the Villain Factory, led by All For One, the primary objective was to stir up conflict and disorder, simultaneously gathering information and testing on individuals known as Trigger Users. This happened prior to the storyline in “My Hero Academia”. It’s possible that All For One, along with Dr. Garaki, were conducting these experiments to eventually develop the beings we now recognize as Nomu.

A Character Quickly Turned Evil is a villain whose powers suddenly and temporarily grow following the use of a drug called Trigger. This drug amplifies a person’s supernatural abilities, but comes with the side effect of reduced reasoning. Since its usage leads to uncontrollable behavior, it’s banned in many places. Interestingly, as depicted in “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” there are legal versions of this substance that are used for treating erectile dysfunction and hair loss (as hinted at in Chapter 32). However, despite these claims, the character Hotta Ichiro, who was promoting its benefits, still ended up bald as shown in Chapter 125.

Swiftly overpowering Instant Villains is manageable for the Vigilantes, but they’ll need additional support from Pro Heroes once the situation is somewhat under control.

Advanced villains, crafted at the Villain Manufacturing Facility, are individuals who were earlier users of Trigger. These baddies tower over Common Villains, boasting greater strength and power. Once a villain undergoes this transformation into an Advanced Villain, they can never revert back to their original form. The majority of the factory’s operations have taken place in Naruhata, a district within Tokyo, owing to the scarcity of Pro Heroes there. Consequently, Vigilantes stepped in to handle the situation, prompting calls for backup.

An alternative name for the Next Level Villains gang is the Bombers. Interestingly, both the Bombers and regular Next Level Villains are manufactured en masse at Onomura Pharma Corporation, a company that also served as the production hub for these villains within the Villains Factory.

The Bombers are avian-like beings akin to Nomu. Number Six operated them remotely via phone, causing mayhem and devastation to gather information for All For One. At that point, All For One was not yet publicly recognized; however, he was secretly carrying out evil deeds alongside Dr. Garaki. He used Number Six to manipulate the Next Level Villains and Bombers while training him simultaneously.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: Beyond the nefarious Bombers, the Villain Factory concocted faceless adversaries too. These brainless baddies were spawned from the cells of the Bombers; they roam aimlessly, waiting for instructions to detonate. These genetically modified villains operate like a collective hive, with Number 6 serving as their supreme commander.

In Chapter 125, we first encounter the bio-created being known as Nomu. It was brought into existence by All For One and Dr. Garaki, through their work at the Villain Factory, with the help of Number 6’s conclusion.

My Hero Academia is now available to stream on Crunchyroll.
