Magic: the Gathering Leak Reveals 4 New Marvel Decks

Details about the upcoming Magic: the Gathering expansion, a collaboration with Marvel Super Heroes, have surfaced online. The leak reveals the four pre-constructed Commander Decks that will be released with the set. This news comes after a strong start to 2026 for Magic: the Gathering, with the January 23rd launch of Lorwyn Eclipsed – a return to the popular Lorwyn and Shadowmoor worlds after a 18-year hiatus. Fans can expect this exciting crossover later in the year.

Magic: The Gathering is continuing its “Universes Beyond” project, bringing popular franchises into the game. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be the first major crossover of the year, and some cards were even revealed early. Marvel characters will return in a new set in June, and The Hobbit and Star Trek are planned for releases in the latter half of 2026. Recently, leaks have given fans a sneak peek at the Commander Decks that will be released alongside the new Marvel collaboration.

Magic: The Gathering Has Four Marvel Commander Decks Coming

Recent information shared online has revealed the four upcoming Commander decks for the Magic: The Gathering Marvel Super Heroes set, along with hints about what each deck will focus on. The “Avengers Assemble” deck will likely be led by Captain America and will emphasize Equipment cards and increasing creature strength with +1/+1 counters. “Doom Prevails” will feature Doctor Doom and focus on draining opponents’ life while using the Connive mechanic. A Fantastic Four deck is expected to revolve around protecting your characters and casting non-creature spells. Finally, the Black Panther “Wakanda Forever” deck seems to center on Artifacts and the Monarch mechanic. The Marvel expansion is set to be released in June 2026.

  • Avengers Assemble: Captain America, White-Blue-Red, Equipment and +1/+1 counter-based
  • Doom Prevails: Doctor Doom, Blue-Black-Red, focused on draining life and Connive
  • The Fantastic Four: Fantastic Four, White-Blue-Red-Green, noncreature spells and protection fields
  • Wakanda Forever: Black Panther, White-Green, focused on Artifacts and Monarch

Magic: The Gathering’s new Marvel Commander decks offer a variety of ways to play with your favorite heroes. The Captain America deck will probably function like the earlier Secret Lair Captain America card, focusing on attaching and removing equipment to inflict damage. The Doom Prevails deck builds on the ‘Villain’ creature type introduced in the Spider-Man set, giving players more options for building villainous decks. The Fantastic Four deck will likely emphasize protecting your creatures using white and blue protection spells. Finally, the Black Panther deck promises unique gameplay with its focus on the often-overlooked ‘Monarch’ mechanic.

Magic: the Gathering Has Lots Planned for 2026

The new Marvel-themed decks for Magic: The Gathering are just the beginning of what promises to be a great year for the game. We’re already getting a good look at the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, with Wizards of the Coast revealing all of its most powerful cards. While details are still scarce about sets planned for later in 2026, The Hobbit is anticipated to be another popular release, building on the success of the Lord of the Rings expansion.

So, Wizards of the Coast isn’t stopping at just Universes Beyond this year! They’ve got a bunch of sets planned that take place within the Magic universe too. I’m really excited about the return to Strixhaven in April – I loved the first Strixhaven set back in 2021. And then, way out in October 2026, they’re dropping something called Reality Fracture, which is totally under wraps right now. Honestly, Wizards has a lot of cool stuff coming in 2026, so I’m definitely keeping an eye on what they announce next!
